I held my new phone against my ear with my shoulder and continued to argue with the man on the other side. "Seriously, I want to drive."

"It's okay, Mel! I can drive." Karl insisted. "I know you're offering because you think I don't want to, but it's fine! We have to leave really soon anyways and it makes more sense for me to pick you up. It's on the way."

I let out a frustrated sigh. I was only offering because I assumed he didn't want to and I was extremely sick of arguing. We'd been going back and forth far too long now. "Fine, yeah. You can drive."

"Yes!" He celebrated. "I'll be over in like twenty minutes!" The call ended immediately after he got the words out.

I grabbed my phone from my shoulder and dropped it onto my bed with another sigh. Following the noise of my phone hitting the bed, three knocks sounded out against my doorframe. I turned towards where I had left the door open.

Bea was leaned against it with her knuckles still against the wood. "That was Karl, right? How long have you got?"

I sat down on my bed. "Twenty minutes."

"Are you dressed or are you gonna change your outfit for the ninetieth time?" She leaned into my room with a teasing smile.

I rolled my eyes and flopped back onto my bed as my anxiety built. "I don't know. Do I look okay? He's seen me in worse." I shot her a preemptive glare once I realized what joke she was about to make. "Don't."

"And less." Bea mumbled anyways.

I turned my head away from her with a scoff. "Do I look okay or not?" I got her back on the topic at hand.

She walked into the room and sat down beside me on the bed, purposefully making me bounce slightly from the force. "Yeah? You look good like all the time, but you and I don't exactly have similar tastes in fashion."

I turned my head to look at her. "Yeah, but I trust you. I'm just worried."

"I know." She set a reassuring hand on my shoulder before promptly dropping her comforting demeanor and smacking it. "Now, stop it. Up and at 'em, let's go."

I groaned and rolled over, shoving my face into the comforter. "It's been over a month, Bea."

"And you have talked every single fucking day. Get up." She started to pull my leg off of the bed.

I kicked her hand away and sat up to get off of the bed on my own. "You're annoying." I pushed myself up off of the mattress and flattened out my skirt with my hands.

"It's my specialty!" Bea blew a kiss at me before walking out of my room, presumably to go to hers.

I took a moment to recollect my thoughts after Bea successfully scattered them. I walked into my bathroom to check myself in the mirror again. It was a very basic outfit for me, but it didn't really matter. I was just nervous to see him.

"Stop looking at yourself!" Bea's muffled voice came from the other side of the wall behind me and I couldn't help but chuckle at it. She was right. I was freaking myself out for no reason. Everything would be fine.

Karl and I both had too much nervous energy that we put into screaming songs in the car together. Both of us were just anxious to see him again. It had been even longer for Karl, around three months.

"Who's car do you think he's expecting?" I turned to look at Karl.

He just shrugged. "Text him it's mine, but there shouldn't be any trouble with finding us."
