You sat on your bed finishing up wrapping your brother’s hat. Your phone sat charging on nightstand. Softly you hummed to your radio and tried to not jump every time your phone buzzed. After a few minutes you decided to check your phone again. You frowned when you saw you only had messages from your mom. You had yet to tell her that you had met Sidney. The last thing you wanted was her coming to your date and taking pictures from afar. You unlocked your phone and laughed while imagining your mom stalking Sid and you.
While you were typing back your response, an incoming call interrupted you. Your heart stopped when you read “Captain Crosby.” You laughed hysterically while you took the call.
“oh captain, my captain!” You sarcastically answered. You smiled when you heard him laugh.
“Well hello (Y/Full/N). You are lame. I tried to be creative with my contact name.” You laughed and held the phone between your ear and your shoulder.
“So it’s only been a few hours. You can’t be missing me already.” You joked.
He made a weird snort sound, “Maybe I was. Or maybe I was just wanting to ask you out to dinner tomorrow… I’d say we should go skating, but you don’t know how and I feel like that is stereotypical… Maybe sushi or something? Do you like Sushi?”
You smirked as you heard him sounded nervous. “I like sushi.” You assured.
Absent mindlessly you played with a stray thread on you comforter. Sidney rambled on random names of the sushi places near by. When he finished you guiltily replied, “Sidney… I have no idea where any of those places are…”
Sid sounded surprised, “Wait, what? How do you not know? They are like the best places in town to eat out!”
You looked at your small college budget apartment. “That’s easy,” You answered, “I never go out.”
“Really? We live on dining out…” Sidney trailed off. You laughed a little and pushed yourself off your bed, heading for the living room.
Sidney continued, “Anyways, so sushi… I have Friday off… Would you care to go to a sushi lunch with me after practice?”
You nodded before realizing he couldn’t see you. “Oh! Yes, of course I would love to go. When do you get off?”
Sidney told you the times and he also asked your address so he could pick you up. You gave him it after joking around about stranger danger.
“Alright, (Y/N). I’ll probably text you tomorrow. For… you know confirmation.”
You laughed, “Oh yes… That’s it! Don’t worry, I’ll be texting you back.”
Sid laughed quietly, “Good. Goodnight, (Y/N).”
You grabbed your phone with you hand, “Goodnight, Sid.”
With that you two hung up the phone. Immediately you set down the phone to go find the outfit you would be wearing on your date in two days…
