You and your husband, Brayden Schenn, had been wanting a baby ever since you had gotten married two years before. After about six months of you being married, you found out you were pregnant. You and Brayden had told everyone and were talking a lot about the future when you miscarried just two weeks later. The miscarriage had been hard on you. You had gotten so excited only to have the rug pulled out from underneath you. Brayden kept trying to get you to think it wasn’t your fault, but you still blamed yourself.

After that the subject had been touchy. Brayden had promised you that he would never bring up giving him children ever again. You both continued with life and figured if it happened it would happen. Then, on December 21st, it happened. You looked down at the pregnancy test on the counter and you stomach formed into a knot. Slowly you took some deep breaths and felt yourself relax. A smiled crept onto your face as you placed your hands on your belly.

“I get to be a mommy.” You whispered.

After a few seconds of reflecting, you washed your hands and quickly rushed downstairs to text your best friend.

On Christmas eve you decided to tell Brayden. Christmas morning was to be spent with both of you families, so you figured you could tell Brayden before hand. You both sat by the fire place. Brayden had laid a blanket down and you both were cuddled up on it.

You looked up at him, “When I was a kid my parents would always let me open one gift on Christmas Eve.”

Brayden chuckled, “Is this your way of telling me you want a present early?”

You shook your head, “No. I want you to open one.”

Brayden raised his eyebrows suggestively.

You laughed and got up. “Not that kind, you goof.”

You walked over to the tree and searched for the gift you had wrapped just the day before. You found it and brought it back over. Brayden had sat up and was watching you come back over. You smiled and sat down crisscross applesauce in front of him. You set the present in his lap and smiled.

“Nice wrapping paper.” Brayden laughed.

The paper looked white on the outside. Brayden began un-taping the package. You waited in anticipation. Brayden saw the inside of the paper and looked up in shock. The paper was yellow with little rubber duckies and the words “baby” written in children’s blocks.

“Open the box.” you said. Brayden opened the box to find a letter and underneath it an empty baby book. Brayden looked up and smiled.

“Read the letter.” You said.

He cleared his throat and read, “Brayden, I can not imagine my life without you. That is the reason I married you. I knew the moment we met I was going to be in love with you. (In case you forgot, you ran by me and my friends laying out at the beach and you accidentally kicked sand in my food. I never forgave you. That sandwich was good.) I’m not sure how I knew… I mean I was yelling at you. But you turned around with those green eyes and… I just fell for you. I hope that the baby that is in my tummy now will have the same endearing personality and enchanting eyes that you have. I promise that I will not be scared of having more children with you. I love you, and I can not wait to see you holding our baby in your arms. Love your wife, (Y/N).”

Brayden looked up with tears in his eyes.

“You’re doing this for me? Having kids?”

You nodded and smiled.

“Oh babe…” Brayden set down the box and wrapped his arms around you.

“For you I’d have a million kids.” You said through the hug.

Brayden pulled back and leaned in for a kiss. He moved the box off his lap and pulled you closer to him.

“Thank you, (Y/N). I love you more than anything.” He paused and moved his lips down to your stomach.

“And I will love you that much too, baby.”

You smiled and lifted his head. “The baby says he loves you too.”

Brayden smiled and laid you back down onto the blanket.

“Now that you gave me your gift you can unwrap yours.” He winked.

You laughed and pulled off his shirt. “Fine by me.”
