“Babe?” You called up the stairs after you got home.
You had just finished a late night shift as a receptionist at the local nail salon. All day long you had wanted to go home and cuddle up to your husband, Alex Pietrangelo. Work was normally a pain, but it was even worst now that you were 6 months pregnant with twins.
You reached the top of the stairs and looked around for Alex. You were surprised to see a light on in the nursery. Quietly you walked to the closed door and knocked. You heard your husband curse and set something down. In seconds he was standing in the door way.
“Ta da!” He said.
You looked around at the completed room with a smile on your face. Alex and his teammates Vladamir Sobotka and TJ Oshie. He put an arm around you while you looked around.
“Al… it’s perfect!” You turned in his arm and hugged him.
The other guys in the room smiled. They set down the tools they had been using to put together the crib and the dressers. Over the 9 hours you had been at work the boys had repainted the whole room blue to welcome your twin boys. Alex gave you a kiss.
“I know you were stressed since we had nothing done, so I called these goons over and bribed them with beer and pizza.”
You laughed and looked around again.
“Which one of you did the moon designs?” You asked with a laugh.
Tj smiled shyly. “I may or may not be a good artist.”
You smiled. “Well thank you guys. This is incredible.”
The guys smiled. After a few minutes of them showing you what they had done TJ announced he was going to have to leave to pick up his daughter from daycare. Vladamir and TJ said their goodbyes and left together.
“Long day?” Alex asked as you sat down on the couch in the living room.
You nodded and closed your eyes. Alex took a seat beside you and let you put your feet in his lap.
“Well I tried to make it a little better.”
You smiled, “You definitely made the day better. That was so sweet of you guys.”
Alex smiled and reached a hand over to touch your belly.
“I just wanted you to know how much you mean to me. I am so lucky you put up with my awful work schedule and you go work even though you don’t have to.”
You rested your hands over his and smiled. “I love you.”
Alex smiled and leaned forward the give you a kiss. “I love you too.”
For the rest of the night Alex took care of you and kept reassuring you how much he loved you. All this did was assure you more that Alex was going to be the best father you had ever met.
