"How can Frostkit be an apprentice?" Snailpaw complained, he just got his apprentices' name.

Blueleaf frowned at her kit. "Her name is Frostpaw now." She meowed. "And Ravenpaw is an apprentice."

Snailpaw hissed. "Frostkit will never learn."

Hollowpaw padded over to Snailpaw. "It's Frostpaw!"

The silver and white she-cat eyes were round. She seemed just as confused as everyone, Blueleaf drew her tongue over her daughter's ear. She offered to mentor Frostpaw herself and Featherstar let her. Ravenpaw wriggled his shoulders, the warm sun blasted on his black and white pelt.

Hollowpaw nudged Ravenpaw. "Come on, slow mole!"

"What, why?" Ravenpaw asked.

"We're going hunting!"

Hollowpaw raced away, Ravenpaw stood up and followed her. He weaved unsuccessfully around cats, they hissed at him for being clumsy. Ravenpaw trudged up the mountain. Stones tugged at his skin but he had grown used to them. Hollowpaw slowed down, matching his pace.

"Come on! All the prey will run away by the time we reach there!" He hissed, itching to run.

"But—okay." Hollowpaw quickened her pace, Ravenpaw by her side.

They reached the first hunting grounds. The scent of vole wafted in his mouth. Hollowpaw ran off to catch a bird she scented nearby. Ravenpaw crouched down, there was a mouse nearby. He imagined the little creature sitting on the ground nibbling on grass. His mouth watered.

Ravenpaw felt the wind blowing his way. The mouse had scented him! Ravenpaw quickly leaped, he landed on the stone ground, frustrated. Though, he did not give up. Ravenpaw struck out, following the mouse. It let out a strong scent of fear. His blood pounded in his ears as he chased after it.

Ravenpaw felt him growing closer to the mouse. As he leaped, the stone ground gave away. He panicked but he felt someone grab his scruff and pull him from the edge of the mountain. Ravenpaw's heart pounded as he noticed that he could have died!
"Careful, Ravenpaw!" Hollowpaw's shrill mew jolted him back to focus. "I saved you in time don't worry."

Curse my blindness! Ravenpaw hissed. Ravenpaw tried to hide his embarrassment by licking his chest fur and meowing. "Where did the mouse go?"

"Into a hole." She nodded to a round crack in the mountain, then she realized he couldn't see.

Ravenpaw frowned. "Let's just head back."

Ravenpaw curled to sleep in the cold den. He would never get used to the wind as it froze the den up. There were leaf flaps that made the den warmer than before, though.

"Snailpaw, stop kicking me!" Beetlepaw's mewed was heard from a few fox-lengths away.

"You're in my way!" Snailpaw replied hastily.

"Shut up both of you!" Petalpaw snarled.

Ravenpaw shuffled in his nest. The claw-shaped moon glowed brightly outside. Sending a white glare. Ravenpaw tucked his nose under his tail, Hollowpaw's fur pressed against his as she snored lightly. Ravenpaw narrowed his eyes, why was Hollowpaw always so close to him? Eyes tired, Ravenpaw stepped out the den.

The wind blew roughly on Ravenpaw's fur. It slapped against his face as he hissed. Ravenpaw fluffed out his fur, it was so cramped inside the apprentices' den. Ravenpaw huffed, he didn't want to train with Mistleheart today. All he wanted was a nice rest, ever since he started training with Mistleheart, he woke up tired and limbs aching.
