Stripekit had leaped on Ravenflight's tail, digging her tiny claws into his fur, the tiny kit hissed angrily as she pulled out a tuft of fur off him. Ravenflight leaped up in alarm.
"Watch it kit!" Ravenflight warned.
Stripekit lifted her head, her amber eyes burning into her. "Who are you?" she squeaked, her words were hardly heard since she spoke in mumbles. Ravenflight knew that there was still time until his kits spoke normally.
"I'm your father, Ravenflight." He mewed, nudging her softly.
Stripekit blinked in amazement, as if she didn't know what a father was. Rowanpaw and Snakepaw were just made apprentices, and they boosted about not being kits anymore.
Thistlekit stumbled from the nursery, moss clamped gingerly in her jaws and Graykit followed her. Stripekit bounced excitedly as she saw the tendril of the moss, the black-striped kit leaped up and pounced on it.
Graykit had hissed angrily, complaining on how she didn't want Stripekit to break the moss into strips yet.
"It was a BreezeClan warrior!" Stripekit complained back.
"I didn't say so!" Graykit mewled back.
Stripekit dug her tiny claws into the dirt. "You're so bossy, Graykit!"
Graykit let out a yowl and scrambled onto Stripekit. The two kits fought each other, claws sheathed. Hollowstep had scrambled out the den, pushing them apart.
"You know better than to fight." Hollowstep warned. "You two are just as bad as Treepaw and Nightpaw." Hollowstep looked at Ravenflight, her eyes begging for him to help.
Ravenflight meowed softly. "I'll teach you two how to stalk mice."
The three kits wriggled into a hunting position, trying to make theirs like Ravenflight's. Ravenflight blinked, Thistlekit was the closest one that did well. While Stripekit had a lopsided hunting crouch, and Graykit had given up and rolled onto her back. Ravenflight purred in amusement. Graykit had a much lean figure, skinnier than the rest. Surely Graykit would be a moor-hunter.
Thistlekit had long legs to run the moor, and Stripekit was more athletic. But yet her thick-fur could protect her from the wind of the mountains.
He noticed the kits yawning. "Why don't you go back to your mother and sleep?" he prompted gently.
"Okay." They squeaked, trampling off.
Ravenflight watched them go. He heaved himself to his paws and padded off.
He grew nearier over to the prey-and-rock pile, ripping a wing off an eagle. He wanted to share it with Hollowstep, but she was probably too busy with the kits. Ravenflight swallowed the rest of the prey. Ravenflight thought warily, what kind of mentors would his kits get? He dug his claws as he continued thinking, would Snailclaw be one of them? Or Claweye? I hope not! He looked around camp, trying to figure out which cat could be a mentor, but he remembered that it was not up to him.
Suddenly, Rowanpaw bounced into Ravenflight, pushing him.
"Wat—!" He was about to hiss until he saw that the apprentice had run away again. He snorted, flicking his tail.
Ravenflight was sleeping soundly in the warriors' den, patters of rain were heard outside. Suddenly a loud terrified yowl was heard from outside, he was pushed up by Thicketstripe.
"Hurry!" She snarled, leaping out the den.
Ravenflight hurried behind her, eyes wide. Roarings were heard, water flicked into Ravenflight's ears. Ravenflight yowled in surprise as he saw a waterfall of brown water swarming down the mountains, mixed with the normal waterfall of before.
