The patrol of the cats steered over to camp. The camp walls of gorse were torn away, leaving a small dip, big enough for any cat to jump over. Ravenflight leaped up and scrambled as he reached the other side of the gorse. Claweye, Featherstar, and Windtuft leaped to. Applenose was hissing in frustration as she caught her leg on the gorse. Windtuft and Claweye had leaned closer to help.

Ravenflight stared in dismay as he saw the camp completely destroyed. The MeetingTree hanged with droplets of water, the ground still moist. The dens were destroyed and dripped with water. Ravenflight shivered, at least the mountains wouldn't look as bad as this.

"StarClan, why did you do this?" Applenose murmured under her breath.

"It wasn't StarClan's fault!" Featherstar hissed. "They would never do something bad like this." Lowly, he added to himself. "Foxclaw, would never do this." Ravenflight noticed that no cats had listened to what he said, either that or they felt pity for the leader's mate who had died, because of Claweye.

How could Featherstar love a half-Clan cat? Ravenflight blinked, but he reminded himself that Lightspark loved Quillflight, and that they were his parents. Shrugging it off, Ravenflight peered through the medicine cat's den. Shrewwhisker had asked them to find any herbs that looked good.

He sniffed inside, it smelled of water and mud. He pushed inside, his belly fur brushing the floor and clumping with soil. Ravenflight saw the holes in the walls that had the herbs, he sniffed them. There were juniper berries that still looked good. He picked a large leaf and added the juniper berries inside.

Ravenflight pricked his ears in interest as he saw marigold scattered on the ground. They were wet, but still smelled herby and good enough to use. He added them into the leaf. Ravenflight had crawled out when he thought he had collected enough.

"There you are!" Windtuft came, skidding to a halt. "You shouldn't take so long looking at the dens."

"I wasn't looking. I was collecting these herbs for Shrewwhisker."

Windtuft blinked, clearly not listening. "Featherstar thinks that we can't stay here yet."

Ravenflight cocked his head, wishing he had followed them to explore the destroyed camp instead. "Why not?"

"It's too unsafe. And a bit of destroyed gorses nearly fell on Claweye."

Ravenflight growled in his mind, that's what he deserves!

"He says some cats would help repair the camp—since that's clearly what it needs."

Ravenflight mewed in agreement, he still couldn't help shuddering at the thought of

sleeping on the damp tree.

They padded back to the makeshift camp. Cats were down the tree, stretching their legs or sharing tongues.

"So. Can we go home yet?" Nightleaf meowed.

Featherstar shook his broad head. "The camp is destroyed. We can't risk being there."

Murmurs of agreement rose through the cats. Ravenflight wished the camp was fine and they can easily go back home. He raced over to Hollowstep, watching fondly as their kits leaped on Mumbletooth's tail.

"We need a better home!" Claweye yowled out. "I can see gray clouds up there!"

Ravenflight turned his gaze on Featherstar, the leader's gaze was blank. Hollowstep had called the kits over, tucking them protectively over her tail. Petalbreeze scrambled forward, her white fur bushed out and she nodded in agreement.
