They both came back with the rabbit, a vole, and a thrush. Ravenflight's paws were muddy and wet. Why did this happen? He wanted to yowl out to StarClan. Featherstar was coughing, he had grown stronger today, Windtuft and Pinefrost were at his side.

"Let the weaker cats eat." Featherstar meowed.

Windtuft blinked. "You need to eat too!"

Shrewwhisker nodded and hobbled down to their branch. "The rabbit can be shared by the elders' and Hollowstep can eat the thrush. You'll eat the vole."

Featherstar began to object but Shrewwhisker had already nudged the vole towards him. He blinked thankfully and ate it. Ravenflight brought the thrush to Hollowstep. Hollowstep smiled as she ate a bit of it, then she pushed it away. Ravenflight's eyes narrowed, why wouldn't she eat? The kits needed milk and for that she needed to eat!

"You can have a bite now." Hollowstep meowed.

"No! This is for you, you need to be strong and healthy."

Hollowstep nudged it forward. "Just one bite? I don't want you dead when our kits are apprentices."

Ravenflight sighed. Hollowstep's eyes glowed with triumph as he leaned down and took a few bites. He suddenly wanted more, but he knew he had to hunt for it, and there were still cats who needed prey.

"Featherstar!" Sunblaze began pounding down the moor, he neared the tree and hopped onto it with grace. He scrambled to his branch, panting with effort to speak. "There are fishes on the shores of our territory! They must have reached there when the water levels rose. We can eat them since they're still fresh!"

Claweye bounced to his paws, snarling. "What are we? BreezeClan cats?"

"We're not BreezeClan cats. But we'll starve if we don't eat!" He snapped back. Sunblaze's tail lashed with anger. "Are you a fool to starve yourself when there's fresh prey we can eat?"

Featherstar spoke in, his voice nice and calm: "We will collect the fishes. We need to eat. Sunblaze lead a patrol."

Sunblaze nodded quickly and began to call cats. Ravenflight pushed Treepaw forward so they could hunt. Rowanpaw was bounced happily with her mentor by her side. The four cats hopped down, Snailclaw and Petalbreeze joining.

Sunblaze raced away from where he saw the fish. Ravenflight's stomach growled with hunger. He was eager to find fish, he noticed the hunger in Treepaw's eyes too.

"When we see prey, can we eat it by ourselves?" Treepaw complained.

"No. You can eat after we share the prey with our Clanmates. Right now: we're

collecting.

Treepaw let out a hiss of frustration and stomped off.

Ravenflight saw the beached fishes laying at the shore of the river. Ravenflight grasped two in his jaw, they were large enough to feed two cats. Treepaw had picked up three, by their fins. He screwed his eyes shut as he found how to walk. The cats had collected enough prey, and Ravenflight saw hunger in Petalbreeze's eyes.

The trotted back to the tree and dropped it onto the floor.

"Enough to feed two cats. There's enough for all of us!" Snailclaw yowled.

The cats hopped down the tree, grabbing fish. Some brought some to others to share, and others ate alone. Ravenflight grabbed a fish and brought it back to Hollowstep. He pushed it forward so they could share.

"Thank you." She murmured.

Ravenflight purred and licked her cheek.

Ravenflight felt cold as wind pulled by. The moon glowed brightly above them. Ravenflight shivering, cuddling closer to his kits and mate. Ravenflight blinked again, the sun had risen. He yawned, stretching.

"Featherstar we must go back to camp!" Mumbletooth complained. "It's too cold for our old bones and these barks are hard and soaking!"

"I understand, Mumbletooth. But my warriors are going to check on the camp now."

Mumbletooth's eyes flared with annoyance, but she nodded. Ravenflight saw Hollowstep ushering the kits down the beech tree. She picked one by one until they were down. Wind ruffled their fur strongly, it would be a cold day.

"Come on kits! Let's stretch our legs!" Hollowstep mewed to her kits.

Ravenflight noticed the tiny kits crawled around each other, shivering in the cold. Their fur plastered against each other and they let out mewls of protest.

Ravenflight nudged them forward. "A bit of running will warm you."

Thistlekit shook her tiny head. "Too cold!" she scrambled under the heat of her mother.

Hollowstep looked exhausted from taking care of them. Ravenflight nudged Hollowstep softly. "I'll take care of them. You can hunt or be away."

She blinked thankfully at him, shaking Thistlekit off. Ravenflight watched as she bounded away to the moor. With horror, Snailclaw had run behind her. Ravenflight was going to begin to chase after them, but he knew the kits would be waiting for them. He scrambled back to them, his eyes soft.

"Right. Why don't we play moss ball?"

"There's no moss!" Stripekit squeaked. "Why can't we go home? It's cold!"

Ravenflight stared at her in pity. These kits needed a warm nice den, where they can be cared for. Not somewhere cold and sleep in a tree.

"We will be going home." He promised gently. Ravenflight picked off a bit of heather and rolled it into a ball, he began to toss it back and force. The kits squealed with delight as it dangled off his claw, they tried to catch it.

"See? Fun!" He meowed, "Aren't you warm?"

The kits didn't reply, Ravenflight tossed the heather. The three of them chasing after it with happiness. Ravenflight purred as Graykit padded to him, the heather ball in between her jaws. She stumbled and released it.

Stripekit and Thistlekit chased behind, hissing in frustration.

"You all did well." He promised. "You'll all be wonderful warriors!"
