Chapter 7

"What?" Foxpaw yowled. "I'm not going with them!"

Featherstar pressed his blood matted head on Foxpaw's head.

"You have no choice." Featherstar meowed. "I have no choice."

Ravenpaw felt his shoulders sag. His sting wounds had faded off when he found out he would live with CloudClan. Mistleheart had not spoken to him and he felt as lost as a kit on the Thunderpath.

Bristlenose padded over to Ravenpaw. "Listen, Ravenpaw," she meowed. "We'll get you out of there. I promise."

Ravenpaw's eyes kept wide. He didn't want to go! Part of him wanted to wail like a kit, but he nodded. Hollowpaw raced over to Ravenpaw, nudging him.

"I'll miss you!" Hollowpaw wailed.

Ravenpaw gave Hollowpaw a swift lick over her ear. "Don't be sad. I'll come back."

Hollowpaw entwined her tail was his, alarmed, Ravenpaw stepped back. "I-er should get going." Ravenpaw stammered, padding back.

Featherstar brushed by Ravenpaw. Mosspelt was waiting by the entrance of CloudClan territory. Foxpaw was whimpering beside Ravenpaw.

"We will fight for them back." Featherstar snarled in Mosspelt's ear.

"I hope so." Mosspelt hissed. "Follow me you two."

The two apprentices' nodded their good-byes to the CliffClan leader. Ravenpaw followed Mosspelt, her CloudClan scent wafted in her nose. Foxpaw frowned.

"I don't want to chase squirrels." She muttered.

Mosspelt flicked her tail in amusement.

Soon they reached the camp entrance and Ravenpaw pushed inside. Brambles snagged his pelt, he hissed. Unfamiliar scents wafted in his nostrils, Ravenpaw felt uneasiness creep in his pelt. Mosspelt pushed the two forward.

"Get used to the cats here," The brown she-cat meowed. "I'll be back."

Foxpaw casted Ravenpaw an uneasy glance, even if Ravenpaw didn't see her. The only scent he recognized here was Mousepaw and her littermates. Ravenpaw sighed, how would he get used to this? It would be hard especially since he was blind.

Foxpaw nudged Ravenpaw to follow her. Ravenpaw followed Foxpaw to where the three apprentices crowded together.

"What are you guys doing here?" Snowpaw gasped.

Pigeonpaw nudged his sister. "Remember Sunstar said that they would get them?"

"Yes. But why?" Mousepaw frowned.

"Because our mother was from CloudClan." Foxpaw mewed. "And our father from SlopeClan! So they have the right to bring us to SlopeClan! But do they care? No! So leave us alone squirrel-chasers!" Foxpaw said loudly.

The cats around them narrowed their eyes. Ravenpaw felt his ear-tips grow hot with embarrassment. He would never get used to this Clan. Pigeonpaw padded away and brought back a mouse, he pushed it toward the newcomers.

Ravenpaw sniffed the mouse. He tried not to hiss in anger. Foxpaw leaned down and took a bite out of the mouse. Ravenpaw wondered how it tasted, he took a bite, swallowing it.

"It's okay," Ravenpaw mumbled through full mouth.

Snowpaw flicked her tail. "See. We're not so bad."

"I heard you beat Mousepaw up." Pigeonpaw purred.

Mousepaw frowned. Ravenpaw felt his eyes grow weary, he wanted to be in the mountains. Curled up in his nest, sleeping! He wanted to be home. A few skittering was heard from the left side of him.

"Welcome." A new voice meowed. It was Sunstar. "We will take care of you. Try to grow comfy."

No, I won't, he hissed in his head. Pigeonpaw stood up. "Here. I'll take you to the apprentices' den."

The apprentice took them to the den. It was a bramble den. Warm, but prickly. Ravenpaw looked at the nests. Only three.

"Wait. Maybe Fernleaf has a few extra nests." Pigeonpaw meowed, running back.

Ravenpaw felt like collapsing onto the nests as Pigeonpaw brought them back. Ravenpaw set them by the bramble wall, away from the others. Foxpaw put hers beside his.

"I miss home too, Ravenpaw." His sister breathed in. "Featherstar will get us back, I promise."
