When a God falls for you [Zhongli x Reader]

The start of a new Journey

You feel a warm light shining on your skin. You're feeling really comfortable, this bed, the pillows..

"since when has my bed become so comfortable?" you think to yourself.
»mhhhh~~« you cuddle yourself deeper in this soft pillow.

But then you try to remember what happened before you went to sleep - you can't even remember going to sleep in the first place.

»you like this bed huh?« a deep voice chuckles.

You try to jump out of the bed, afraid you might've been kidnapped, but you still feel too dizzy to do so.

»Uhh hello?? What.. what happened??«
you start to panick when you open your eyes to see that it's really not your bed you're sleeping in.

»I found you unconscious« the deep voice says. »I brought you here«

»EHE?!?«

You turn around and see a tall man standing in the doorframe.
You look at him from head to toe: he wears a black/brown suit with golden accessories and buttons on it. His hair is dark brown and a little bit lighter on the ends. As he opens his eyes to look at you, a shock went through your body - his eyes were glowing bright yellow. You rub your eyes to look again - now they were just normal yellow with a little bit of orange. "probably just the dizziness.."
But if you're true to yourself, you find him actually really attractive.

»Who are you?? And where am I??« you bark at him

»I'm sorry, I haven't introduced myself yet. I can understand if you're shocked or confused.« he says with a really soothing voice. »I'm Zhongli, a consultant of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor«

»I've heard this name somewhere.. are.. are we in Liyue?«

»Yes, we are. In a hostile, to be more exactly.« he answers

»what.. happened?« you look at him. He can see a.. kind of sadness in your eyes

»You don't know?« he asks back, wondering

»n-no.. I.. don't think so..«

You try to remember what happened, the last thing you remember was.. somewhen being in Mondstadt - you also don't know why, you just were there.

»Well..« he says, coming in your direction
»let's first get you some breakfast and a nice tea, If you like, I can tell you what I know. shall we?« and reaches out for your hand.

You first don't know if you can trust him since you really don't know him, but you feel a little bit flattered by his kindness

»uhh y-yeah, sure!« you take his hand and jump out of the bed.
All of a sudden, the dizziness sets in again, very heavily. You nearly fall to the ground but Zhongli catches you.
He lays you softly back onto the bed

»Wait here« he says and walks out of the door.

"Well what else do you want me to do if I keep blacking out bruh" you think to yourself, annoyed by the fact that you can't even stand up on your own.

A few minutes have passed now, as you hear Zhongli coming back, holding a tray full of food and tea.

»wow« you mumble as you look at the variety of delicious meals. As he places the tray on your bed you already grab a plate full of Almond Tofu.

»I'll take this one!« you tell him with a smile on your face.

»I didn't know what you'd prefer, so I just made you some of everything. I didn't know you were so determined, but well, I also know someone who likes this dish the most..« he chuckles.

You just keep munching and munching - you're actually really hungry from passing out.

»So« you speak with a mouth full of almond tofu »tell me everything you know«

»Well..« Zhongli begins, »there is sadly not much I can tell you. The only thing I know is, that it happened on a Thursday evening. It was a nice day until everyone in Liyue heard a loud crash somewhere in the mountains, together with a thunderstorm coming up. The sky was turning dark and it heavily started to rain as well. Then you heard another loud crash - something was wrong, we all knew it.«
He says, taking a sip from one of the teacups.
»Wait, what day do we have today??« you ask shocked

»It's Sunday«

»I'VE BEEN SLEEPING FOR THREE DAYS?!?«

»Yes, basically«

»oh lord barbatos..« you sigh as you fall back on the pillow

»well, the thing that happened next was that I went to the spot where it all came from. By then, the storm already calmed again. When I arrived, the only thing that was there were you, laying on the ground - unconscious apparently. You had wounds all over your body - but don't worry, when I brought you here I cleaned all of them and treated them. Also, there was a dagger formed out of geo laying next to you. But that's all I know and found.«

»wounds?« you look down on your dress, which you didn't realize was cut open on many parts, but there were no wounds left.

»and.. a geo.. dagger?«

You tried to remember what happened as hard as you could.

Suddenly, a flashback takes your vision

~Flasback~

There was a person, they were walking away from you. It was so blurry, you couldn't identify who it was.
»NO!!« you screamed, pain filling you voice
Your eyes were crying, your wounds were hurting.

»Please... don't... leave.. me..«

~End of Flashback~

As you came back to reality, you see the food tray laying on the ground. Zhongli was suddenly standing a few meters away from you, holding his one hand defensively towards you - as if you were about to attack him

And you just sit there, crying, not knowing what the heck just happened.

»Calm down. It's okay we...«
Your vision blurs out again, you only barely hear what Zhongli says.

A few moments later you pass out again.
