A new duty

»Y/N! Be careful! Let me help you, what do you need?« Zhongli says.

You look at him in shook.

»C-Calm down,, I-I was just trying to go to the bathroom to change and get ready to sleep, I'm not broken, or anything...« 

»Okay then, be careful« he says, finally letting you go from his grip.

You stay still for a few more seconds and look at him - his strong grip left you in shook. But also.. made you feel...

Anyways, you get going. But.. things like these don't seem to leave your mind. he's just so kind and nice to you - you really feel safe in his presence. But sometimes, he makes you feel a certain way of excitement where adrenaline rushes through your body and where it's hard for you to think straight in situations like this. You try your best to hide it since you still don't really know him, especially because it seems as if he hides many secrets. Could he still maybe be.. dangerous? Maybe he has completely different plans than you do, is he doing all of this just to use you in the end for it?

"Sooner or later I have to confront him about it" you think to yourself, looking into the bathroom mirror. "I don't know if I can really trust him yet, even if he protected me from Childe. I mean, that doesn't mean anything in the end if he would be just as bad as him" »ugh...« you sigh. »what am I even doing..«

Zhonglis POV

"She seems so fragile.. I have to protect her, at all costs." Zhongli thinks to himself as you left the room.
He feels strange. The whole time already. He can't shake this feeling off nor can he get you out of his mind since he saw you standing there in the rays of sunshine. "I haven't felt this feeling in a long time. I feel like without my gnosis, my human feelings are getting stronger and stronger. Especially, around y/n. I don't know why, I don't know how. The only thing I know is that I want to be close to her - to protect her - to make her feel safe. I guess I will.. see it as my duty to do so."

Slowly but surely Zhongli wanders off again to the balcony outside. He takes a seat and leans back, watching over the darker and darker becoming landscape of Liyue.
"Let's see where this journey will take us"

Your POV

As you finished changing into more loose, comfortable clothes (A wide shirt with tight shorts), you head back to your room. You lay down in your bed and started to stare at Zhongli, who was sitting on a chair on the balcony by now. You could see the side of his body. You noticed the outline of his muscles were actually showing through his clothes - he has an stunning body. Not to mention his sharp jawline and pretty eyes and hair as well. You couldn't help but admire him, feeling safe and calm, but also curious and excited around him.
»He's so handsome what-« you mumble to yourself.

Suddenly, he turns around towards you.
OOP- UHM-
You act like you were about to fall asleep - when actually, your heart was beating faster and you were too tense to fall asleep.

You waited for him to turn back around, but he didn't - quite the contrary: he gets up and walks towards you.
"Wait WAIT UHH what am I supposed to do- HOL UP!?" you internally scream.
But still, you manage to look asleep.
When he reached your bed, standing right in front of you, he looks at you for a few seconds - then lays himself in bed next to you.

You feel like your heart is going crazy when he-

He takes a strain of you hair which has fallen into your face and softly brushes it out of it like he often does - but now caressing your skin smoothly with it.

You can't pretend to sleep anymore - you act like you just woke up in shook.
»Oh, I'm sorry, y/n. I didn't want to wake you up, I just-«
You heavily begin to blush
»Ahh ehrm it's fine I- I uhm,,« you try to find an excuse, »I'm just a little thirsty, I'm going to get myself some water, ehehe« you awkwardly smile and run out of the room.

»WHAT THE HELL-« you panicked
"Why.. why am I feeling this way.. towards him?? I mean, sure he's a good looking man and everything but.. No no! It's just getting worse! And.. why did he do that just right now?? Ugh I have to keep a straight mind..... I'm probably just overreacting and imagining things that aren't there.. keep your guards up, y/n"

Zhongli's and Your POV

"Did I do something wrong? She seemed so scared, I wanted to comfort her.." Zhongli thinks to himself, watching out to the stars which had formed in the night sky by now. "She looked so peaceful trying to sleep, but I felt that she somehow couldn't. I don't know why. Is something on her mind? Is she feeling some sort of.. uncomfort? Is she about to faint again? I have to look after her - I need to be close to her. I just have to do my duty well."
A few minutes passed by now. "I know she just wanted to get some water, but it's been some time now already. What is she doing, where is she? I want her to come back.. now."

As you start to head back to your room, you nearly let your glass fall to the ground. »H-Huh?!«
