CHAPTER 41- S
Demi's POV
I watched as Nicko waved goodbye to me as the driver pulled away with me in the car. I didn't have a good feeling about this, if Nicko saw who my date was he'd rip him limb from limb. We stopped outside an apartment complex and I bit my lip as the door opened and Michael, the yoga instructor, slipped inside.
"Hey Demi!"
I smiled, hoping it didn't look forced, "Hi."
He smiled, "I'm realy glad you asked me out tonight. I hope Nicko isn't too unhappy about your break up."
I shrugged, "Who knows? We might work it out. We're both just trying new things."
Michael nodded, "So he doesn't know you're out specifically with me right?" I shook my head and he breathed a sigh of relief. "Good. He's a scary bloke."
I sighed, "He's just protective."
He shook his head, "I can understand protective but this is something different Demi. That guy has got issues."
I looked at my hands, "If you came on this date to bag on Nicko the entire time we can end this things right now. He's my daughter's dad, and I don't appreciate it."
Michael sighed, "I'm just trying to show you that you can do so much better than him. He doesn't deserve you. You're an amazing woman. He's holding you back from so much. Do you really want to be tired down so early? You're only what? Twenty two? I don't think you realize how much life you have left to live."
I snorted, "You're what? Twenty five? Nicko's an amazing dad, and he treated me amazing when I was with him. We didn't break up because of what you think are his issues, we broke up because of some things that we never really resolved with him. He's come to terms with everything and I don't think you're in a posistion to judge anything he does."
Michael smiled, "You're still in love with him."
I crossed my arms and looked out the window, "I'm trying not to be."
He touched my arm, "And why is that?"
"Because I don't want us to bring up our daughter fighting like animals every night. If we didn't have a child, maybe things would've been different but I don't want my daughter to grow up like I did." I bit my lip, remembering my childhood in which I would cry in the corner of my room while my dad would scream at my mom.
"But the thing is, would you rather have her grow up not seeing her dad everyday? Or just on the weekends? I was a kid of divorce Demi, I know how much it sucks and so do you, when you wait up for you dad to come home and it never happens. You see him moving out and it sucks. We can go on this date, but I don't think either of us want it to go any farther than friends. I'm not a fan of the dude, but I see the way he looks at you, he's completely and utterly head over heals for you."
I smiled a bit, "Yeah, I know. I just can't be with him like that right now."
Michael smiled, "It's okay, I can be your test dummy as many times as you want."
Nicko's POV
I felt a huge anxiety cloud come over me as Demi left to go on her date. We agreed not to tell each other who we were going with and I was glad because that meant she had no way of figuring out my plans. I waited about twenty minutes after Demi until I too got in my range rover and left to Demi's mom's house.
"Nicko? What are you doing here?" Dianna said, as she answered the door with Mia on her hip.
"I'm here to pick up my date." I said, smirking a bit as I guestered to Mia who was kicking her feet and smiling.
