CHAPTER 26- Scared
NIcko's POV
I was hurt when Demi left me in the bedroom, but I knew I had to be understanding.
"Nicko?" I groaned and looked up to see her standing in the bedroom doorway, "You need to get up and help me clean up."
I sighed, "Can we just chill today? I'm exhausted."
Demi let out a laugh, "You're exhausted?! Let's not forget the one who's pregnant here."
I rubbed my face and sat up, "Okay what do you want me to do Demi? You keep me up half of the night then leave and wake me up at the crack of dawn to help you clean? What do you want from me?"
She rolled her eyes, "I want you to fucking help me Nik! I need help here and right now all you do is sleep you never help me."
I made a noise of disgust and stood up, "Right. Well I'm gonna go shower. Let me know when you're done being pissed."

That night I pulled on dark jeans and a black button down shirt, using the mirror to spike and blow dry my hair.
"Where are you going?"
I looked up and saw Demi standing in the doorway with an expressionless face, "I told you last week the boys are going out to Mike's birthday party."
She bit her lip, "Oh."
I nodded, "Did you need me for something tonight?"
Her eyes flashed and she shook her head before turning on her heel and walking out. I debated on going after her, but a beep from outside made me take one more look in the mirror before I walked out of the door.

"LET'S FUCKING GOOOOO!" I yelled, laughing loudly as we all danced to the beat of the loud thumping bass in the club. I took another three shots of Fireball and soon was stumbling around, clapping my friends on the back and roaring with laughter. I hadn't had this much fun in a long time, I couldn't even remember why I stopped. Suddenly, a dude slammed into me and I turned around, the adrenaline pumping through my body.
"WHO THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?!" I roared into his face, the alcohol making my mind go fuzzy and my vision see red.
"Fuck off man." The other guy said, shoving me off.
The rage monster inside of me snapped and when I opened my eyes again two bouncers were restraining me, the other guy in a pile on the floor. They pushed me into an allyway and I stumbled to the ground.
"Yo man just call someone. Calm down." One of them said to me, before they slammed the door.
I patted my pockets and realized I'd lost my phone before drunkenly standing up and walking into the street where my driver stood. He looked me up and down before helping me into the car and got in himself.
"Demi's called me three times Nicko. She's worried about you, it's almost three am."
I rolled my eyes, suddenly annoyed, "She doesn't fucking own me. I don't care if she's worried she has no reason to be."
He glanced at me in the rearview mirror, "If I hadn't stepped in you'd be sitting in the back of a cop car."
I stared out of the window the rest of the time, muttering angrily to myself. I wasn't even sure what I was pissed about, but I could feel myself tearing at the seams ready to explode. We made it to my house and I threw open the door, stalking up the stairs and slammed the front door. A yelp sounded through the house and I turned to see Demi sitting there with her glasses on and hair in a messy bun reading a book. I rolled my eyes and stumbled up the stairs. Of course she'd wait up for me, I didn't know why but it still pissed me off that she didn't trust me enough to come home. I slammed the bedroom door and walked into the closet, ripping my shirt off as my skin began to burn. A few seconds later the door opened snd I turned to see Demi staring at me, her mouth pressed into a thin line as she surveyed me.
"What?" I spat, my annoyance getting the best of me.
"What happened tonight?"
I shrugged and pulled a pair of boxers on, "Nothing."
She raised an eyebrow and put her hand on my chest when I went to move past her.
"I don't buy it."
I inhaled deeply through my nose, and snarled, "Demi, take your hand off of me."
She shrank back, her eyes flashing with hurt and fear. "I'm sorry I-I...." She turned away and walked out, leaving me feeling like a jerk. I almost went after her, but a wave of exhaustion came over me and I collapsed onto the bed, immediately falling into a deep sleep.
~*~
The next morning I woke up with a headache, and I ran to the bathroom, throwing up everything I'd drank last night. I leaned my forehead against the cool glass and groaned softly, my hands were cut up and throbbing.
"Doesn't taste as good going out as it did going in huh?"
I looked up to see Demi standing in the doorway and a spark of annoyance went through me, "Don't bother with the whole 'I told you so' or any of your buddha shit. I won't be listening."
Her eyes flashed with hurt and she turned away, walking out. A few minutes later she returned with an advil, gatorade, and a granola bar.
"Eat." Was all she said, and the paused at the door, "By the way, you slept through our doctor's appointment."
I closed my eyes as she slammed the door. Shit. I'd promised her I would be at every appointment and yet I got drunk last night and slept through it. I hauled myself to my feet and slowly thumped down the stairs. Demi was standing a the counter with her back to me and I could tell by the slight vibration of her shoulders that she was crying. I sighed, and walked up to her, resting my hands on either side on her and letting me head drop onto her shoulder.
"What do you want?" She asked, her voice thick with the tears she was trying to conceal.
I sighed and gently grasped her waist and turned her around in my arms, looking into her eyes.
"Don't cry." She shook her head and I leaned my forehead against hers, "Just please stop crying." Demi's shoulder's slumped as another sob sounded from her mouth. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." I whispered, wiping her fast falling tears and kissing her lightly. "I'm sorry."
Demi shook her head and leaned into my chest, "You were so scary last night." My heart broke as she sniffled into my chest. I'd scared her, she was afraid of me. It was my worst nightmare. I stumbled back from her, gripping the back of the fridge as I slid to the floor.
Monster.
That's what I am, she's scared of me. I struggled to control my breathing at the fear of her leaving me. Panic set in, and I gripped my hair, inhaling heavily through my nose.
"Nicko!" Demi's voice brought me out of the trance and I realized she had my face in her hands, slapping my cheeks lightly. "Nicko calm down baby. Breathe for me." I slowly nodded and breathed slowly in and out as she straddled my waist and held my head. "What happened baby?" She asked. Baby? Why is she calling me that still?
"I can't lose you." I choked out, "Not again. I don't want you to ever be afraid of me."
Demi nodded, "I'm sorry, but last night you were like a different person. You were cold, cut off and drunk. This Nicko in front of me who is vulnerable and soft around me, this Nicko will never lose me. Ever." I nodded and she leaned in, pressing her soft lips against mine. "I love you so much baby."
