chapter three: first look

"Newt?" Y/n asked, "Yes, Newt. Unfortunately he is one of a small amount of subjects who are not immune. We just need to see the difference. I am aware that it is very cruel but we have to do what we have to do. Anyway, go off and have your lunch. After you eat Janson will bring you along to meet your subjects." Ava said as she stood up to open the door, "Okay!" Y/n said excitedly because after all, she didn't have very many people to talk to day to day and she really was excited to make some new friends. She walked along to the cafeteria and looked into a room. It had three beds and a door at the back which she presumed was the bathroom, inside there were three people. A dark haired girl, a dark haired boy and a young little boy. She presumed that they were Teresa, Thomas and Chuck. She saw how young Chuck really was and thought that it was just plain cruel to send such a young boy in to that harsh of an environment. While talking with Ava she was told the basic plans for the Maze, there would be a living area in the middle, the subjects would be sent up in a box and the maze would change every single night. Then she remembered the horrid creatures that they were creating called 'Grievers'. They were odd slimy creatures with metal arms and weird spikes coming out of them. She tried to get those thoughts out of her head and ran along to lunch.

She walked into the small dining room which belonged to her and the other workers at WCKD, y/n was only 15 along with all of the other people in there. Except for Chuck, he was only the mere age of 11. She picked up a tray of lumpy mashed potatoes, a small portion of chicken and a weird sauce which she never liked. She looked up in disgust at the cook and walked along. She sat at her own table, as per usual and ate the horrid food. After all, it was all they got besides from dinner. She checked the time on her small black watch and waited there for Ratma- Janson. She waited for another ten minutes and started to get bored. Luckily Janson swung open the door and pulled y/n up from her seat, "Woah take it easy Janson" she said in suprise. All Janson did was roll his eyes, he brought her down a long corridor, similar to the one she saw Thomas, Teresa and Chuck in. They walked for another few minutes until they reached a door which oddly had absolutely no windows. Janson gave y/n a keycard and simply said, "They're waiting for you." then turned around and walked away. Y/n began to feel nervous because she was going to have to be with these people for a few years until they went into the maze. "You're fine. They're just people. Just completely normal people." she said to herself. She then took a deep breath and slid the keycard across the scanner and opened the door.

She walked inside and three people stood up and turned to look at her. She saw one older looking boy, with dark skin and black hair. Then a tall boy with short hair and quite odd eyebrows, and finally she saw a boy with dirty blonde hair and dark brown eyes. Everyone stood in silence for a few seconds before the tall boy spoke up, "Who the hell are you! What do you want?!" she then presumed this must be Gally, she remembered Ava Paige saying he was slightly angrier than the others in the group. "You must be Gally." the boy walked over to her until his face was just inches away from hers, "I said who the hell are you." he said in an angry tone. "My name is Y/n." she told them, "And I'm gonna be, well, I guess looking after you for the next wee while." After she said this, the dark skinned boy stood up and said, "Well I'm Alby, It's nice to meet you." holding out his hand. Then the blonde boy only said a few words, "The name's Newt.
