chapter forty four: the pit

Y/n slowly began to wake up and couldn't take in her surroundings. "Hey, hey it's okay." Newt said calmly, "You're okay." When Y/n's eyes finally began working, she saw that her and the blonde boy were sitting in the pit. "What the hell?" she said quietly, "I know, it's fine. Only one night according to Gally." he said whilst rolling his eyes. They saw a figure appear at the door, it was quite dark so they couldn't really see. She strained her eyes and saw a small boy, Chuck. "Hey guys, you missed dinner so I thought I'd bring you something." he said handing Newt a small bag through the wooden bars. "Thanks Chuck," Newt said with a laugh, "That was thoughtful of you." Chuck sighed, "You're not gonna like this, but Gally has everyone convinced that Y/n and Thomas are something to do with the people that put us here. Because of all the visions you two have been having." "Visions? Thomas has been having visions too?" Y/n said whilst slowly sitting up. "Yeah, Alby didn't tell you? He heard this woman, saying 'Wicked is good' over and over."

Y/n choked slightly on the food she was eating, she couldn't swallow. "Excuse me?" she said with a muffled voice while turning around to spit out the food. "Yeah, Fry told me you heard that too right?" She nodded as she went into a spiral of thoughts. could she have worked for wckd? She couldn't have. They were pure evil. This worried the girl slightly, they must have been connected in some way. If they've been having the same visions, they had to be. "Earth to Y/n," Newt said while shaking her shoulder, "You okay Love?" She looked at him, "Yeah.. just thinking." she said with a slight smile. "Try get some sleep, you'll need it." he said softly. She shook her head, "I'm wide awake. There's no point." She lied, she yawned after she said this. Newt laughed, "Really? And how's that working out for you?"

She rolled her eyes, "Right, I'll leave you two be. I'll be waiting for you when he lets you out, alright?" Chuck said sweetly, she nodded and the little boy turned and ran away. Newt pulled the girl in close to him and cradled her in his arms, she fell asleep quickly. Newt sat awake all night, he didn't want her having nightmares again. He remained awake until the sun had fully risen, he saw Gally walking over so he carefully shook the sleeping girl awake.

Gally approached the pair, his face had a large bruise. Y/n felt proud, knowing that she'd probably done that. The door swung open quickly and the boy turned and walked away without saying a word. Newt and Y/n looked at eachother and laughed as he helped the girl out of the hole, as he said, Chuck was standing by a tree, "Hey guys!" he said while walking over, "The doors should be opening soon," they saw a huge crowd gathered at the doors, "We should go check it out." And with that, the trio made their way towards the doors. Y/n's knee had been acting up lately, so she was limping slightly more than usual. Newt held her hand, just incase. They made their way to the front as the doors suddenly started opening, they all looked through the small gap hopeful they'd see their friends. There was nobody there. "I told you Chuck, they aren't coming back." Chuck and Thomas had bonded quite alot over the few days he had been there. They all began walking away then they heard a small, "No way.." come from Zart. They turned around and saw a tired Minho and Thomas holding Alby between them, "Yeah! Yes!" Chuck shouted as they made their way towards them.
