chapter thirty nine: greenie

Y/n woke up to the sun shining in her face. She splashed some water in her face, put on her shoes and walked into the Glade. It was 10am, everyone was up already. Y/n walked over to Newt and Alby who were sitting at a table, "Morning Love." Newt smiled, "Morning.." Y/n said, "Can I talk to you quick?" Newt stood up and walked further away from Alby, "What's wrong Y/n?" Y/n looked stressed, "I- i don't remember anything from last night except for the nightmare.. what happened?" Newt sighed, "Well, you were breathing far too fast and you were crying hysterically. Love, what happened in that dream?" "It was the same as every other one, except there was a boys' voice. Shouting, I heard things smashing around the place and klunk. It was bloody horrible."

Newt pulled the girl into a hug, "You're okay. It was just a dream remember?" the girl nodded as the blonde boy put his hands on her head, pulled her in and kissed her softly on her forehead. Suddenly, the blaring alarm started going off. "Is that what I think it is?" Y/n said, "The box.." Newt said as he grabbed her hand and pulled her towards the box. Her and Newt made their way through the large crowd of Gladers and stood at the front of the box. "Who wants to do the honours?" Gally said, whilst they all looked at Y/n. "I'll do it, someone help me with these gates." Alby grabbed a gate and pulled it open while Y/n did the other one. Without hesitation, she jumped into the box.

She saw a dark haired boy, with a blue shirt. She recognised him but had no idea how, "Hey, Greenie. I'm Y/n, welcome to the Glade." she offered out her hand and the boy looked reluctant but grabbed onto her. "A little help, boys?" Newt helped Y/n out of the box, while Alby helped the Greenie. Suddenly the boy shoved everyone out of the way and ran, "We got a Runner!" Zart shouted, while Gally ran over to the boy. The boy suddenly fell over and everyone laughed except for Y/n and Newt they felt kinda bad for the boy. Gally picked him up and brought him to the pit.

Alby came over to greet the boy, and let him out. Y/n was working with Newt in the gardens, when she saw the two of 'em walking past. "Should we go say hi?" Y/n said to the blonde boy. She didn't wait for an answer and started walking towards the pair, Y/n couldn't run but walked. So Newt easily caught up to her. "You alright, Alby?" Newt said when the two reached them, "Ah, Greenbean meet Newt and Y/n. These two are my Second in Commands." Newt shook the boys hand, and Y/n closely after. "Listen that was some dash you made earlier," Newt said whilst laughing, "Ya know for a second I thought you had the chops to be a Runner, till you faceplanted." Alby and Y/n laughed, "That was great." Newt said while laughing along.

Newt went to go find Chuck while Y/n sat and waited with the Greenie till he got here, "Hey, Y/n?" She found his voice awfully familiar but presumed it was nothing, "Hm?" "Actually nevermind.. sorry." Y/n looked at the boy confused. Chuck came over and Y/n went up to talk to Newt. That's when she realised, the boy sounded exactly like the voice in the nightmare she had had just last night..
