chapter twenty one: relief

Thomas was sitting in his room, when he had a knock on his door. A guard stood at the door and said, "I have been told to inform you, that your sister Y/n has woken up-" Thomas shoved the guard against the door and bolted down the corridor to the Comms room, and looked on the cameras. Indeed was Y/n awake, he saw her talking to Newt. He knew he made her happy, he let out a sigh of relief and sat down next to Teresa, "Hey Tom, she's doing good. She woke up about fifteen minutes ago, she got two memories about wckd back. I'm not sure why, but she did." Thomas looked at Teresa confused," You're telling me she can remember some things? Does she remember me?"

Teresa looked at him, "I'm sorry Tom, she got a memory of when she was taken to receive The Swipe and a memory from when she first got here. She knows of you, but she has no idea that you are her brother." Tears began to fill Thomas's eyes, Teresa noticed this and gave him a hug. He sobbed into her arms for a while before calming himself down, "Just knowing that I'm probably never going to see her again, or talk to her again. She'll never know me again." Ava Paige was standing behind them quietly then said, "I'm sorry you feel that way," Thomas jumped in suprise, "She had to be punished for her actions." "It's alright Ms. Paige, she looks happier there anyway.."

Thomas then got up to go talk to some of his friends in their room, he walked past what used to be Newt, Alby and Gally's room. That door was locked and only had a keycard, just like Y/n's. Just incase Cranks managed to get in, they weren't immune so they needed to take all precautions. He got up to a door and knocked, a calm voice said, "Come in." Thomas calmly entered the room and said, "Hi Fry. Oh, Winston? I didn't know you were in this room." Winston looked at him oddly, "I've been in here the whole time.. with Fry and well used to be here with Zart." Thomas knew something was up, Winston wasn't immune either, so why was he in an unlocked room? He sat down anyway, whilst he did someone else came in. He recognised the voice as young Chuck, "Hey guys! What's up? Oh, hey Thomas. What you doing in here?" Thomas turned around and smiled to the boy, "I'm just bored, so I figured I'd come say hi." "Well, great minds think alike." the boy said winking jokingly at Thomas.

"So guys, does anyone know anything about the maze?" Chuck asked, Thomas remembered that they knew nothing of the maze while he knew everything about it. He simply replied with, "No. I don't think any of us do." Frypan finally spoke up, "I feel bad for those kids in there, Gally, Alby, Newt even that Y/n girl. Your sister right?" He said looking at Thomas, "Oh uh yeah." Thomas replied, "Damn, sorry man. I feel for you." Thomas just smiled slightly, he thought about how much he missed her. "Newt was pretty cool." Chuck said, "He was nice to me in the cafeteria, hated Y/n though. She wasn't bad personally I thought she was really nice." Thomas thought of something to tell them, "Ava gave me a check up on Y/n, basically she passed out for like a whole month, her and Newt probably have the best friendship in there according to her." Chuck looked very confused, "They're friends? They literally despised eachother, I could hear their shouting from down the blimin' hall one day." Thomas just said, "Right, I gotta go. Nice talking though." And simply stood up and left.
