chapter twenty three: past

Thomas went to the cafeteria for lunch, just like every other day with Teresa and Chuck having to stare at that empty table. Thomas was quite close with Newt, Gally and Alby, they had been there since they were kids but Y/n was only found in the scorch a year ago. He loved the moment when he saw the unconscious girl being carried in by two guards, he remembers the day like it was yesterday..

The entrance doors burst open, Thomas could hear it from down in his room,
"Medics! Medics! We need help now!" after hearing that Thomas ran out of the dorm to see what was going on,
He saw two guards carrying a girl, her body was limp and she was covered in dirt and sand.
Ava Paige came running down the hall past Thomas,
"Sargeants, what appears to be the problem?"
"We found a girl, she was lying outside our perimeters, she's still alive but barely breathing."
As Thomas got closer, he got a better look at the girl. It was his twin sister, Y/n.
"Oh my god Y/n?! Is that you?!" Ava Paige turned around quickly,
"Thomas, do you know this girl?!"
"Yes! Yes, I do! She's my twin sister!"
"Right, you two get her to the Med Wing now! Hurry up!" Ava Paige ordered.
"Is she gonna be okay? Is she- is she dead?"
"She's definetly alive Thomas, we will just need to get her in for a check up and get her cleaned up."
He saw as the limp girl was being carried down the corridor, she had bruises and cuts all over her, he couldn't imagine what she must have just been going through.

Y/n wasn't an immune, so originally wckd didn't want her. She was free from the cruel world of them, but after all, they saved her life. Lunchtime was over and he headed to his monitors just like every other Tuesday afternoon at 12:30pm. He scanned the cameras, flicking through all of them looking for Y/n. Of course, she was sitting eating her lunch with Newt, they had small tables that only fit around three people, Newt and Y/n always had the same table, Y/n was drinking her water and Newt obviously said something funny because she spat her water out all over her food which sent the two into a laughing fit. Thomas laughed with them, as if he was right there. He missed her, alot but he was glad to see that they were both happy, considering what Newt went through before she went in, she really was a saviour.

Thomas left Newt and Y/n to their own devices, they were having a great time. He poddered down the hall to go and meet someone new, his name was Aris. Thomas knocked on his door and went in anyway, he saw Teresa in there. She turned around and looked at him wide eyed and just ran out of the room and down the hall, "I'm not even gonna ask." Thomas said with a slight laugh, "You're Aris right? I'm Thomas, it's nice to meet you." he said as he held out his hand. The light brown haired boy was reluctant but shook Thomas's hand, "Yeah, yeah my name's Aris. It's good to meet you too. Uh did you need anything?" Aris said with a slightly sarcastic tone, Thomas was just trying to be nice, but he just said, "Oh, uh yeah um no, just wanted to come say hi." Aris gave him a strange look and looked down to continue reading a book, that was quite obviously upside down, but he didn't mention it and just left. He then walked down the hall back to the monitors once again.
