The group of about twenty ran into the Maze, through all of the corridors spears in hand. They turned around a corner, Y/n and Minho immediately recognised it as the corridor as the place where Y/n had been stabbed by the Griever. The two stopped in their tracks, as they saw the pool of dried up blood on the stone floors. Newt came back, "What's wrong?" he said looking at Y/n, he turned around and saw what they were looking at. "C'mon, Love." he said in a comforting voice as he held her hand and started walking towards the group.

They reached the last corridor, the place where they thought the exit would be. Thomas glanced around the corner and saw a Griever standing beside the door, "Is there a Griever?" Chuck said, slightly scared. Thomas nodded, "We have to work together. We fight as hard as we can, or die trying. Alright?" he said to the group. Everyone gave solid nods, "Then let's go!" Thomas shouted as they all ran around the corner. The Griever spun into action running towards the Gladers, multiple people where flung down the huge gaps on the side of the stone ground they were on, Y/n couldn't bear looking at it.

They all worked together, trying to push the Griever down the side. It was able to shoot some people with blades, they fell to the floor one by one. Everyone pushed the Griever off the side and then heard a loud shout coming from Chuck, "Ruuuun!" he said as he ran towards the group. They saw two more Grievers making their way towards them. Chuck and Teresa made their way to the end of the corridor, they jumped into the small tunnel and reached the end of it. "Thomas! It needs a code! Eight numbers!" "Minho! The sequence! What's the sequence!" he shouted as they continued to fight off the now three Grievers lunging at them. Minho called out the first half of the code before a Griever jumped on top of him.

"Minho!!" Y/n shouted. Without warning, Jeff ran at the Griever pushing it from Minho. The Griever grabbed him and he was pulled into the crowd of Grievers. "No! Jeff!" Minho shouted, he called out the rest of the code to Teresa. Then the first huge metal slab fell, killing a Griever. The group ran towards the tunnel as the slabs fell down, the last Griever ran at the group, Y/n threw her spear at it causing it to fall backwards and was squashed by the stone. Then the tunnel door closed and the group fell.

They landed in a room, it was very small and had a door. They stood there in silence for a few seconds before Newt pushed open the door. There was a long corridor with lights all the way down it. They all looked at eachother and slowly made their way down it,they reached another door with a green exit sign above it, "Seriously?" Frypan said with a laugh. Thomas pulled the handle and pushed the door open, there was smoke every where. An alarm blaring, there were men in lab coats scattered across the room covered in blood. "What the hell happened?" Y/n said quietly as they all made their way inside. They walked past the dead bodies and reached another door. Y/n puled the handle and walked inside the room and immediately recognised it. She knew this was the room she worked in, along with Thomas and Teresa. She walked inside and Newt came over to her and held her hand.

She made her way over to the place she recognised as her position. She sat down in the chair, which she could remember the feeling of. "This is it.." she said quietly. "This is where you worked?" Newt said, "So you really did watch us.." he said looking at the screens. Suddenly she heard a voice she recognise pop up on a screen across the room, "Ava." she got up and ran across to it. "Hello, My name is Dr. Ava Paige, I'm Director of Operations at the World in Catastrophe Killzone Department. If you're watching this, that means you've successfully completed the Maze Trials. I wish I could be there in person to congratulate you, but circumstances seem to have prevented it." the few Gladers that were left stood infront of the large screen listening to the strange woman. "I'm sure by now, you must all be very confused. Angry. Frightened. I can only assure you, that everything that's happened to you, everything we've done to you.. it was all done for a reason. You won't remember, but the sun has scorched our world. Billions of lives lost to fire, famine. Suffering on a global scale. The fallout was unimagineable." Everyone gave worried glances at one another and continued watching," What came after was worse. We called it The Flare. A deadly virus that attacks the brain, it is violent. Unpredictable.. incurable. Or so we thought. In time, a new generation of emerged that could survive the virus, suddenly there was a reason to hope for a cure. But finding it would not be easy. The young would have to be tested, even sacrificed inside harsh environments." There were a few scoffs around the room when the woman said this. "Where their brain activity could be studied, all in an effort to understand what makes them different. What makes you different. You may not realise it, but you're very important. Unfortunately, your trials have only just begun. As you'll no doubt soon discover, not everyone agrees with our methods. Progress is slow, people are scared. It may be too late for us.. for me. But not for you." The group looked at eachother nervously and the room was full of tension, "The outside world awaits, remember." There was a long pause as Ava held a pistol to her head, "Wicked is good." Y/n turned her head away from the screen as she heard the bang of the gun go off. Thomas turned it off quickly, "Well what do we do?" Chuck said to Thomas, "Are we free?" Thomas realised the questions weren't rhetorical, "I.. I don't know." "She said we were important?" Newt said.

They started making their way towards the door when they heard someone behind them, "No." they all turned around and saw someone with eyes of black tar holding Ava Paiges' pistol. It was Gally.
