chapter five: thomas

Y/n also went to lunch, she went into the room and realized there was allocated seats. She sighed realizing she will probably have to sit next to the boys she had met earlier that day. Yep, she was right. Her name was on a small sheet of paper beside Alby, Newt was onfront and Gally beside him. She grabbed the usual metal tray and sat herself down, stared at the plate which had an odd looking chicken curry and a stale cookie. Foods were slightly rationed as barely were even able to grow outside anymore in the scorch. Gally was the first to sit down, he looked at y/n and said,"Is this the type of food we get? It looks disgusting." Y/n just nodded and continued eating. Gally looked over to the line and saw that Newt and Alby were quite far behind so he decided to talk to y/n.

"Listen, sorry about getting angry earlier. I'm just really confused, we all are. Newt isn't that bad when you get to know him, I'm sure he didn't mean what he said earlier." Gally said with a slight smile on his face. "Yeah, hopefully." she said and continued eating. A few minutes later Alby and Newt came over, "Oh hey Y/n!" Alby said kindly, y/n didn't look away from her plate but held her hand up if a flicking motion to show she was listening. Alby looked at her slightly confused but started to eat, "Before any more of you ask, yes this is what all of the food is like." y/n said with a slight laugh. Alby and Gally smiled at the fact she wasn't completely down in the dumps but Newt said nothing.

~Next Day~
Y/n decided she would go to see the boys again, she got up and tied her y/h/l hair back into a ponytail and left her bedroom. Before she could reach their room Ava came around the corner and said her name, "Y/n! Wait I need to talk to you before you see them." y/n turned around slowly on the heel of her shoe and looked at Ava, "What appears to be the problem Chancellor?" Ava cleared her throat, "Well we have made significant progress with the maze, we already have the home section built." 'Already? It's only been two days..'. "When do you think it will be finished?"

Y/n asked slightly confused, "Surely it would take a very long time to build an entire maze?" "Y/n we have 600 builders working on this maze. It will be finished within the month." "The- the month? But that means I don't have much long left with Alby?" "Correct. Also, we will be erasing their memories once they go into the maze. It's a simple process called The Swipe." Ava then turned around and walked around the corner. Y/n stood there in utter confusion 'Erasing their memories? She can't bloody do that it's just unfair.' she walked around the corner and bumped into two people, "Oh- I'm sorry! Oh Thomas, God you scared me!" "Sorry Y/n, this is Teresa. She works for wckd too, Teresa, this is my sister Y/n."
