chapter eight: gally

Today was a Monday, that meant she would be working with Newt and Gally. She dreaded those days, she hadn't seen them since she told them about Alby, somehow when Gally pushed her into the wall she broke her wrist, so it was very difficult to type but she did it anyway. She had received a new file on the maze, information about how Alby was doing. She hadn't went to visit them for a month, so another recruit had gone up, his name was Minho. He seemed like a nice guy. She walked up to their door, took a deep breath and walked in. "Look who finally decides to show up." Newt said coldly, "Oh I'm sorry I just had to deal with a broken wrist and alot of other things so cut the crap shithead." Newt scoffed and looked back down to the same book he was reading the first time they met.

"Hey y/n, sorry about your wrist." Gally said coming out of the bathroom, "I didn't mean to hurt you, I was just angry." "It's fine Gally don't worry about it." Newt laughed and said, "You shouldn't be the one god damn apologizing Gally. It should be her, I bet Alby is rotting away in that maze with who ever else they've chosen to go. It sounds bloody well horrible and she doesn't even care." Y/n slammed her hand on the table she was sitting at, "Seriously?! You wanna bloody well go there, go ahead! Please! Please do! Atleast let me say this, I've had a god damn horrific life do you hear me? And the worst worst thing that I have ever done and the saddest I've felt was seeing the look of terror on Alby's face before we had to bring him in to erase his memories! It was the worst thing of my life and I feel so so guilty so please give me a god damn break!"

Newt looked even angrier, "Did you just say erase his memories?! Please tell me I bloody heard you wrong!" "YES! YES I DID! BEFORE YOU GO INTO THAT BLOODY MAZE YOU GET YOUR MEMORIES WIPED! WASN'T MY CHOICE IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT PLEASE GO TALK TO AVA YOURSELF!" she slumped back in her chair and burst into tears. Newt stormed into the bathroom and Gally just looked hurt. "Y/n, why didn't you tell us?" "How could I Gally? I feel bad enough myself as it is but there is nothing I can do. Listen I'm sorry about Alby. Okay? I really am." she quickly walked out the door and slammed it.

She went back to her station and sat down, she saw Alby and Minho building a small hut made out of sticks and logs from the huge forest surrounding what they called 'The Glade' she liked that name, it just felt right.

~Almost two months later~
Another 'Greenie' came up in the box as they called it, his name was Ben. They had built a fair amount of things in there, there was a med-hut, a place to sleep which they called 'The Homestead' and the 'Maps Room'. Minho had started to run the maze everyday, mapping it. Every time he came back he would go and write everything down, everything he saw. They had somehow found out about Grievers, I'm not sure how, maybe WCKD let them keep that memory. Ava came to y/n and told her, "The next recruit to go up will be Gally. You will have to go get him." "I can't." y/n said shaking her head, "They'll know whats going to happen." "You can bring some guards with you, if he doesn't come they can take him by force." Y/n nodded and collected three guards and walked towards their room shaking, she hadn't been to them since her and Newt had raged at eachother. It was official, she hated him. She reached the door took a deep breath and walked in. She simply said, "Gally, you'll need to come with me."
