Minho entered the small concrete building they called 'The Maps Room' only Runners were allowed in there, and Alby but that was it. Each section of the maze had its own case, the eight cases were spread around the room. Today, according to Minho, Section Six was open. Minho showed Y/n the map and which route they would be taking, then he brought her to another small hut which contained a black watch, a weird harness looking thing and a torch. Minho grabbed Y/n a pair of running trainers, "Here, these will be useful other than those boots you're wearing." she rolled her eyes and slid the shoes on.
She tied the laces of her trainers and walked across to Fry's kitchen to get her lunch to pack for the day, "Hey Fry, whatcha got for me?" "Just the usual, just in a bag this time." Frypan chuckled, "I'm giving you alot of water just incase." He handed her three bottles of water, Y/n gave Fry a thank you nod and turned around and walked towards Minho. Minho ushered her over and began to give her a warning, "Y/n the maze is more dangerous than you presume. Even though the Grievers may come out at night, that doesn't make a difference. You still have to be on the ball, keep your eyes out for any sudden movements and never stop running." Y/n nodded.
"Oh and also, don't talk when you're running, it wastes your breath. At 12:30pm we will sit down to have lunch then make our way back, normally I'd run for longer but I just wanna be safe. Newt honestly can be scary sometimes, you just don't see that side of him." Y/n burst out laughing looking at something behind Minho, "He's behind me ain't he?" Y/n nodded, "Minho I swear to god." Newt said with a laugh, "You really are an annoying shank." "I was kidding! I was kidding haha.." Minho said quickly after. Newt walked towards the doors and Minho gave Y/n a jokey scared look. She rolled her eyes and followed Newt.
They reached the doors and Newt stopped and turned towards Y/n, "Listen, Sunshine. You better be god damn careful." he said pulling her into a hug, "Honestly Newt, I'll be just fine. Like I said." Newt walked across to Minho who was standing a few metres behind her, "If she get's hurt, it's on you d'you hear me?" Minho nodded quickly, standing up straight. "You better mean that." Newt said holding a finger up at Minho. Y/n grabbed Newt's other hand and turned him round to her, "We gotta go soon, Blondie." He sighed, "I know, I know. Just scared that's all." Y/n pulled Newt into one long last embrace as Minho grabbed Y/n's hand and pulled her into the maze. She reached the end of the corridor and made eye contact with Newt for the last time and turned around the corner.
