chapter eleven: attempt

Y/n ran back to her position and got ready to see Newt come up, he came up and of course as usual was scared and confused. Y/n felt so sorry for him, she knew he didn't put up a fight. He seemed different, more nice. But still, he didn't look very happy. Even with the joyful Minho trying to make him happier he still had that same look on his face for the past week after he went up, pure sadness.

There was absolutely nothing y/n could do, she wasn't in control of the maze she just watched the cameras. She went to talk to Thomas about The Right Arm, she couldn't take seeing Newt like that anymore even though she disliked him, he grew on her. Thomas and y/n discussed their plans for hours, Teresa still knew nothing about it. They had told them every single wckd lab, trial and compound. All they knew was that the two leaders were called Mary and Vince and that they were trying to save immunes. Y/n decided to go back to her position the next morning, she sat down in her chair and ten minutes later she saw that Newt had woken up, it was awfully early, the sun had barely risen. She saw him get up and get himself ready, she watched in confusion for about twenty minutes. He seemed to be thinking about something, but suddenly he stood up and darted into the maze.

'He's not a runner? What the hell is he doing?' she thought. The cameras followed him the whole way as he ran, he seemed to be crying. Y/n was very confused when she saw him climbing then she realized what he was doing, he had gotten to the top of a wall and he just stood there. Y/n and Thomas had the same cameras they were both staring at their screens knowing what was about to happen. "No.. no no no." y/n whispered. Thomas heard her but said nothing. Suddenly Newt jumped, "No!" Thomas and Y/n said at the same time. Y/n looked away and burst into tears, this wasn't supposed to happen. He was just lying there, they presumed he was dead and Thomas ran over to comfort Y/n who was crying hysterically.

An hour later, they still had to look at that same screen. Minho ran around the corner and saw Newt lying there, they both payed attention to their screens to see if he woke up or anything. They saw Minho check for a pulse and he let out a heave of relief, suddenly Newt woke up. Y/n was relieved he was okay, no one should ever have to feel like that then Janson burst into the room again.
