Chpt 5

First Battle: The Struggle for Trost, Part 1

Luna's PoV

As I landed on a house just below the wall, I look up to see Eren charging in head first.

"You idiot!" I looked to my right to see Aaron charging after him.

Suddenly the titan used it's hand and knocked the cannons off of the wall. I quickly moved out of the way not to get hit by the falling debris.

I won't make it up there in time.

There was alot of smoke and steam then the titan vanished into thin air. I zipped up to the top of the wall and landed next to Thomas who was shouting to Eren down below.

"How could it just vanish like that?!" I asked furiously.

"I don't know!" He said. "We can't sit around and wait! There's a breach in the wall and we need to make a move."

"Look alive, operation colossal titan is in effect, I expect you to take part. Report to HQ, if you got close to the damn thing, we need answers." A man said as he zipped over to us.

"Shit.. I didn't expect this to happen so early.." I mumbled, watching as everyone in hq was gearing up.

I stood beside Armin who was shaking like crazy trying to connect his odm gear to the gas tank to fill it.

I kneeled down, placing my hand on his. "Calm down Armin. It won't look good out there if you don't calm your nerves." I said softly to him. He turned his head in my direction to look at me.

When he finally calmed down, I gave him a warm smile.

Once I got my tank refilled, I made my way outside quickly.

"Luna, you've been assigned with me." Commander Kitts said as he approached. "But sir-"

"We need many elite soldiers as possible to get things back on track. That's an order." He said.

I'm only a cadet, wouldn't I slow those higher ups down? I didn't question it,  I just went on.

I was worried because I haven't seen Reiner or Annie let alone Bertholdt anywhere. I hope they were okay.

I followed behind the commander over to his group and I wasn't surprised to see Mikasa here too.

I looked down at the people running by to get to the inner gates. There was only really one thing on my mind at that was Reiner but why? He's incredibly strong so I shouldn't be so worried about him.

"Don't stop, keep moving no matter what you do! Only take important things with you!" I said as I jumped on to the street where everyone gathered.

I walked over to where Mikasa stood, a sigh escaping my lips. "The things I'd give to be out there fighting those titans right now." I said as I crossed my arms angrily.

"You should keep your blades out all the time just in case a titan shows up." She said. "You think a titan will show up this far near the rear?" I asked.

"You can't be too sure." She said.

From the time I knew Mikasa, we've never really conversate with one another. She was always so strong and I was jealous because of it but maybe I could learn a thing or two, especially from an Ackerman.

I pulled my blades out and pointed them downwards as the civilians walked by in a rush.

"So.. you and Eren. Your always looking at him in some odd way." I mentioned and her cheeks flushed red. "Why bring that up right now?" She asked, pulling her scar over her mouth.

"Trying to make conversation because I'm bored and rather be slaughtering titans." I said.

"I just..want to protect him no matter what." She said and I tilted my head to the side a bit. "Protect him huh?"

"And you and Reiner?"

"Huh?!!"

"Is it the same for you? Like with me for Eren?" She asked and I laughed at her comment.

"If I want to protect Reiner? You're joking right..? Reiner can take care of himself you can be sure of that.." I looked away nervously.

Was it true what she was saying? That I wanted to protect Reiner? Or was it something else? Why would I need to protect someone who doesn't need protecting?
