Chpt 22

Jean's POV

"You're telling me that Luna left with those two bastards?!" I shouted, looking at Armin and Aaron.

We had just got done discussing our plans to go after them and right now I was at both of their throats for letting her go.

"I tried to stop her but she decided to stay with Reiner.. come on there's no way we could win her over if she's with the one she loves.." Aaron said, looking away angrily.

"Jean, we know you have strong feelings for Luna but we can't risk that on this mission. We need to capture her and the other two. What we know so far is that she's only with them out of love.. she's not our enemy! If we can convince her to come back with us we might have a chance. She could convince Reiner and Bertholdt to stand down." Armin said.

"Are you crazy?! We tried that the last time with Annie! It didn't work! Reiner and Bertholdt won't do the same either!" I shouted, grabbing him by the collar.

"Listen, Jean. Right now our main goal is to get Luna and Eren back. Possibly Ymir too. So don't mess this up with your stupid feelings for my sister! I know if things get out of hand she will become hostile to protect those she loves." Aaron said.

I stood there quietly.

If I could manage to get Luna to side with us.. I'll have to make Reiner a true enemy..

Luna's POV

I sat quietly on the tree branch between Reiner and Bertholdt, staring at Eren who was still unconscious. Reiner had bit the nape of Erens titan, accidentally chomping his arm off in the process, so now he was laying there with no arms.

It would've been for the best either way so he didn't transform on us.

"Can't believe these two knuckle heads snatched you up too, Luna." Ymir said and I looked over at her. "You would've done the same with Historia.. wouldn't you?" I asked and she sighed.

"If anything, she'd do the same for me.. must be nice having her chase after you huh, Reiner?" Ymir asked looking at him.

I looked at at Reiner as he had his arms crossed. "Shut up.. seriously?"

"No no, listen. You gave her a good time and now she's basically a lost puppy following her master." She said and I looked at her confused as to what she meant.

"What do you mean, Ymir?" I asked as Eren began to wake up.

"Is it not obvious? Reiner and You had sex. No surprise there that you're still by his side after the shit he just pulled." She said.

"Don't listen to her, Luna.." Reiner said.

"She thinks that's how I am.. but no Ymir. I may be here with Reiner right now because I love him yes but I also have been fighting for a moment like this. To be free, to see beyond the walls! Reiner had promise me that. No one else did. So I don't care what happens from here on out.." I said, looking away from Eren's shocked gaze.

"They took your home! They're the reason my mother is dead!" Eren shouted. I looked at him sadly before standing from where I sat.

"There's no point getting upset about it now, Eren. Look at us all standing right here before you. We've all lost someone dare to us! You're not the only one suffering. We're all suffering in our own ways but we're still the same. This entire thing happening right now could just be a big misunderstanding! But which one of your scout members have the balls to see what the other side is like?! None of you!" I shouted at him.

"Luna.. I-"

"Hate me all you want.. I'm not leaving them." I said, using my ODM gear to get away . I landed out in the open field, where there were no titans.

I kicked a rock and stared at the ground. My body was trembling in fear. "W-why.. must it come to this!" I said, balling my hands up into a fist as tears fell from my eyes on to the ground.

"Why did you guys have to betray us like this.. we could've worked together! You guys could've come to me. Annie.. Reiner.. Bertholdt.. we could've figured something out.. but now it's too late!" I screamed as I cried, my face turned to the sky.

"Don't be blinded by love.." my mother said and here I am, following in the footsteps of the story she use to tell me every night when I was little.

"We could just leave.. go back to your home town together and live peacefully.. right?" I said to myself as I stood there in the open field.

"You know it's too late for that.." I felt his strong arms wrap around me slowly, pulling me into his chest. "Reiner.." I whispered.

"Please don't have second thoughts right now.. I promise you, when we get off of this island, everything will be okay.." he said, turning me around to face him. "Reiner, I don't want to hurt my friends.. I can't just leave now.." I said staring into his eyes.

"Luna, we need you. I need you! You're the only thing keeping me sane. If you don't come back with us.. who knows what'll happen.. I want you by my side all the time! I want to have a family with you.." he said.

My eyes widened at his sudden comment of wanting to have a family.

"Don't use that against me.." I mumbled. He moved the hair out of my face and leaned forward, placing a kiss on my forehead. "I'm telling you the truth. I see my future with you and only you-"

He looked up to the sky and I did as well, seeing green smoke.

"Shit, they're here already? Come on." Reiner said, zipping back up to the others and I quickly followed.

I looked at Eren who looked at me. The frustration and anger on his face gave me the chills, so I looked away from his gaze, feeling the guilt suffocate me.
