Chpt 9

Story

Annie's PoV

"You guys think Luna will be okay?" Bertholdt asked as he took a seat next to Reiner who was worried completely about Luna.

She was in the hospital mainly due to her ankle but her sudden collapse took us by surprise. Even Reiner freaked out and I've never seen him like that once.

"I'm sure she's okay. It's just a sprained ankle." I said. Was there something we missed? Did she hit her head?

I watched as Reiner rose from where he was seated and he began to walk away. "Where are you going?" Bertholdt asked.

"To see her. She's been out for the entire day. Something tells me it's not just a sprained ankle." He said, leaving.

Reiner's PoV

As I walked into the room Luna was staying in, to my surprise she was by herself. Where was that stupid brother of hers? I walked over to the side of her bed, sitting down on the bench near it.

She slowly opened her eyes, staring at me intensely like she had seen a ghost. "Luna?" I called out but she never responded right away.

"Luna.." I repeated and her eyes softened. "Reiner?" She sat up slowly, fixing the sheets on herself properly before looking at me once again.

"How are you feeling?" I asked and she sighed, covering her face in her hands. "I feel exhausted.. and nauseous."

"Well considering you've been out the entire day I'd expect that. No wonder you collapsed. You've been pushing yourself so hard. You need to take it easy." I said.

"I was completely fine even with my sprained ankle! It's just...all of a sudden it felt like electricity was flowing through my veins after Eren-"

She had stopped moving as she stared at her hands in horror. "Is Eren okay?!" She blurted out. "He's been locked up."

"I have to see him." She started taking the sheets off of herself but I quickly grabbed her wrist, staring into her eyes once she looked at me. "You're not leaving this room until you're able to walk properly again. For now you need to rest."

To think it's been 3 years I've known her for. I want to know more about her, take her back home with me even.

"Reiner?" She said and I immediately snapped out of my train of thoughts to look at her. "Hm?"

"You're staring." Her cheeks had turned at dark shade of red slightly which I thought was cute. I slowly reached my hand up to the side of her face, caressing her cheek with my thumb.

Luna's PoV

I could feel my heart thumping in my ears as he placed his hand on my cheek gently. I tilted my head, leaning into the touch of his hand.

"Luna, I don't know how to say this but I-"

The door to the room suddenly opened and in came my brother. Reiner moved his hand away from my face and stood up slowly.

"What do you want Aaron?" I glared at him slightly as to why he was here. "To check on you of course." He said.

He turned, looking at Reiner. "Why are you in here?" He started.  "I came here to check on her just like you did. Isn't it obvious?" I sighed, knowing where this was headed. I reached over, grabbing the crutches next to my bed. "If you two are going to fight things out, please excuse me while I grab some fresh air."

"You need to stay in bed." Reiner commented and I only smiled at him slightly. "I'm not here to argue, just wanted to see if you're okay and now that I've seen you I can leave." Aaron said, walking to the door.

He really is different since he joined the scouts.

As he left, Reiner looked back at me before sighing. "I'll see you tomorrow." He walked out, leaving me alone.

I sat back into bed, holding my head slightly that started to throb once again.

"Mom! Can you tell us the story of the shifters again!?" My younger self asked as I jumped into her bed with Aaron. Mother had fallen sick and had to stay in bed for a while. Luckily she still had enough strength to tell us a story.

"Really? Again? You always want to hear that story but alright.." she gave a weak smile, rubbing my head slightly.

"A long time ago, there was this girl named Xena. She had adventure out in the open with her brother Jarc. Xena had the power to become a Titan and her brother aswell." She smiled as I rest my head onto her lap.

"Xena's titan was called the bladed titan, her arms were as sharp as a knife and could cut into anything with one swipe of her hand. She was beautiful, even for a titan besides the fact she had no skin." She giggled slightly.

"One day, Xena came across a different world with her brother. She fell in love before her brother did and had a daughter.  It was a full moon that night so Xena decided to name her daughter after the moon." She smiled before looking over at Aaron, who had already fallen asleep.

"Mommy?" I whispered.

"Will I become like Xena?" I asked, curious to know more. "I hope not. I want you to be better than her, stronger in fact. I want you to fight for what you believe in. Xena didn't do that." She said, looking away.

"Why?" I asked.

"She was blinded by love.. she lost herself and only had her brother to go to." She mumbled. "What happened to her lover?" I asked.

"It's time for bed sweet heart.. it's just a story.. it's not real." She placed a kiss on my head and It felt like I was being shocked.

"Goodnight.." she whispered.
