"Jeongin, were home!"

That yell made him anxious as he ran down the stairs pushing back his now freshly washed and styled hair. It felt a little odd to have it styled back perfectly without a strand out of place, having worn it wild for a few days.

Walking into the kitchen, he saw his parents placing their bags by the marble island and looking up at him when he walked in. They smiled upon seeing their baby after a while of being gone and having fought with him before they left.

"How was the drive?" Jeongin asked softly, sitting down still a bit uneasy about what they wanted to talk about.

"It was fine. The weather's good today so not much trouble" His mom smiled at him.

The boy was surprised they hadn't noticed the marks on his neck that he wasn't even trying to hide. He was going to tell them about Chan whether they approved or not.

They were quiet for a moment before his father leaned over the counter.

"How have you been feeling?" He asked, a concerned look pooling in his eyes.

It confused their son nonetheless not knowing why they asked that.

"I'm fine but why are you asking me that?" The confusion obvious in his voice.

"When you ran off the night you came home late, your father and I had a talk," His mom chimed in "we know you felt bad about being late considering you came home in tears. After we left and you weren't home, we felt bad"

"What we're trying to say is we're sorry for not understanding but from now on we want the truth" His father stated with underlying sternness.

Those words made jeongins heart pound. The truth. It was easier before when he wasn't face to face with them.

"Which is..?" His mom pushed a bit.

Jeongin leaned his head back with a sigh as he slumped back in his chair. Both adults saw them at the same time, the purple marks, one being slightly lighter than the others but all still pretty dark.

"Are those hickies jeongin?" His mom asked her eyes slightly going wide.

The boy took a moment to register before he threw his hands over the marks in surprise.

"I-i.. Yes..?"

His parents gave each other a look that seemed rather angry. Looking back at the boy they sighed.

"Explain." His father said obviously angry that jeongin was sneaking around and was seeing someone in such a way.

He didn't know what to say. He was scared, knowing what they would do if they were already pissed he had the marks and found out they were from a boy.

"Now." His mother demanded.

He stayed quiet for a moment before biting his lips nervously. Looking down at his lap, he sighed before speaking and looking back up at his disappointed parents.

"I like a boy" He said barely making eye contact with them.

His heart pounded again at the first time saying he like the older out loud. It felt odd but it made his stomach swirl with happiness at the confession. It ultimately dropped again at his parents outraged looks. They were livid just like he thought they'd be.

"You what?" His father asked calmly

"I like a boy" He said clearer making his mom gasp even though she heard it the first time.

"Jeongin, you better rethink what you're doing."

"What do you mean?" He looked between the two

"You're throwing away everything to be with him! Mrs. Park said you haven't stepped foot in that church for days! You haven't touched your instruments at all and you're throwing everything we ever brought you up with for a boy! This is a sin, jeongin. " His father yelled, a familiar deja vu settling in his bones reminding him of just a few nights before.

Jeongin sniffled a bit, knowing that this was going to go bad from the beginning.

"I like him a lot.. " He said looking down at his lap.

"No. You don't like him"

"And who are you to dictate that?!" Jeongin screamed standing from the stool at the island so forcefully that it fell.

"I can like whoever I want to like and if you were supportive parents you wouldn't care whether I like a boy or a girl! I like him. Chan is amazing and you are not going to stop me from seeing him no matter how hard you try. You've ruined my relationship with seungmin and you are not going to ruin potentially the only good thing thats happened to me in a while. I'm going to keep seeing him and you will not stop me and I will not talk to you until you both apologize to me for not supporting me."

By the end of his small rant the first tears of the argument fell. One small tear slid down his cheek but no more than that. He was going to stay strong and hold his ground.

No matter what it took, jeongin would fight for Chan.

He wanted him. The good and the bad. He just wanted him. His parents weren't going to stop that and rip it from his hands.

Jeongin turned and walked up the stairs ignoring his parents calls for him to get back down there so the could talk this out.

Calmly, he closed the door to his room taking a deep breath. Oddly enough he felt as if a weight had been lifted off of his shoulders.

He sat on his bed and pulled his phone out that they surprisingly didn't take and pulled up chans number.

Cute innie

I told them everything
They're pretty upset but at
least they know, right?

He smiled even though he could still hear his parents arguing. Jeongin didn't have this overwhelming fear that his parents would find out and him get in trouble. He didn't need his parents approval, the only approval he needed was from himself. That's the only one that really counted. It was his happiness after all.

His phone went off with a small vibration and he looked down, immediately smiling wider at the name

Channie <3
Even if they are upset,
I'm proud of you for telling
them.
