I rolled my eyes as I watched Kathy execute a pretty advanced spell perfectly, as always, as she waved her wand and made coffee... in an actual french press, as well as a freshly baked croissant.

"Show off." I muttered and she stuck out her tongue at me as she handed Roxy her coffee and croissant.

Kathy sat down on top of my lap on the sofa of the Slytherin common room, wrapping one arm around my shoulders and I rubbed up and down her arms, knowing she was always a bit cold, not being accustomed to the temperature down here.

Roxy sat down beside us and took a bite out of her croissant as she flipped through her arithmancy textbook. "How am I going to remember all these bloody formulas? I mean, we have less than a week until the tournament so we've been rehearsing nonstop, and when we're not rehearsing we're studying for our OWLs. This is fucking stressful."

Kathy giggled. "Yeah, Hogwarts professors are experts on psychiatric torture."

"They're psychopaths! I swear to you! I mean, I want to know who the hell wrote these questions? It couldn't have been the professor, right? Because if it was, then Professor Vector should seriously be locked up in Azkaban for being mental." Both Kathy and I laughed loudly at how Roxy expressed her pent up frustration. "I mean, am I wrong? You'd have to be a fucking psychopath to actually sit on your desk and think 'Hmm... what's a new way to torture the students? Oh I know, I'll give them extremely complicated arithmetic problems for them to solve, and in addition to that they have memorize a million formulas to solve them.' Ugh!" She slammed her textbook closed.

"Take a break." I suggested.

"You say that because you have a girlfriend with an eidetic memory." She retorted back angrily.

"She's your best friend!"

"Yeah, but she's been spending more time with you than with me!"

That sentiment clearly hurt Kathy. I felt her posture go rigid on the back of my arm and her eyes lost the previous gleam that existed there.

Roxy seemed to notice and sighed. "Sorry, I didn't mean it like that. I'm just frustrated, that's all."

"It's fine." Kathy responded curtly, taking a sip of her coffee, not meeting Roxy's eyes.

Roxy again noticed that it was not fine and tried to place a hand on her leg but Kathy quickly got up. "I've umm... I've got to go. I'm supposed to help Madam Pomprey with... something. I'll see you in the room." She gave Roxy a small smile and brushed her hand quickly though my hair, saying nothing more as she left the common room.

Roxy sighed and slumped on the sofa, twirling around her coffee in her mug. We both stayed quiet for a compile moments, tension evident between the two of us at the argument Kathy and her had just had.

"I didn't mean it." Roxy whispered, not looking at anyone in particular, but I knew she was speaking with me.

"I know." I put a hand on her back. "I think she just realizes it's true and feels bad. Give her a minute. I'm sorry too, I know I've been taking up her time." I apologized.

"I mean, it's not like she's never with me, we have dance and some classes together, we still hang out occasionally. I don't think she does it purposefully, but she kind of goes to another world with you." She shrugged. "I wasn't trying to hurt her feelings, I swear. I just... I miss her is all."
