Another day. Another NEWT. Another OWL.
You'd think I'd be excused from that since I almost, you know... died.
But no, apparently the ministry gives you 24 hours to get yourself back together then you've got to haul ass to the classroom.
There's another assignment this time:
"What did you learn from that experience?"
Fun. Fucking fun.
What did I learn? Hmm... let's see.
I learned that I have to get over my fear of heights. How am I gonna do it? Lord knows.
Wait... I know. But you don't, ha!
I learned that pain is temporary. Exhaustion is temporary. Survival is what matters.
Professor Longbottom was right, when it comes down to it, all you can really do is do your best to survive, no matter what you must do.
No matter who you kill.
No matter how much pain you have to endure.
None of that matters. Because at the end of the day, you're still alive.
Was it really worth it though? My life, I mean. Because it felt like I'm just walking on a continual nothingness.
That's what I feel.
Nothing.
No wait — there's something: pain.
Not emotional, don't get so excited. Still feel numb there.
Physical.
My leg fucking burns. Why the fuck won't you give me some sedatives?
What if I use dark magic to etch something into your calf, how would you like that? I'd bet you'd pump yourself with sedatives.
So, you fucking bastards in the ministry, I am kindly asking you. No... ordering you to give me sedatives.

I scratched the mark on my calf and winced at the pain as I waited in line for a part of the NEWT for DADA, battling a boggart.
Fun.
Despite the professors saying we shouldn't have to take this part because it could bring up trauma that we just faced, the ministry insisted.
Fucking sadists.
