Cierra's POV

Oct 10th, 2021

I heard the comforting twinkle of my bracelets as I grabbed the keys from the desk of the hotel we're staying in, the Marriott, and shoved them in my pocket, taking out the pepper spray I had just bought and attaching it to her key ring.

I checked my watch. "Damn it, Kathy! You can't be late for your first interview!" I yelled out to her while looking at myself in the mirror.

I had on a white blouse with some plain black pants and heels, my hair was curled and in a low ponytail, my hair flowing over my right shoulder.

Living life as a muggle is so fucking annoying, I swear. I love the days where I can go back to England and see Louis and live life as I was born to live it, finding and caring for magical creatures, as I'm getting paid to do. When I go back I still get to visit my uncle's joke shop, play with pigmy puffs, go to get some butterbeer, everything. All with Louis of course, this past year we've stayed together, despite the long distance. He doesn't insist on finding out our location when I'm not in England, which I find myself particularly grateful for because it's hard to lie to him.

"I'm not going to be late! Just give me a second!" Kathy called out from the bathroom, pulling my attention from thinking about my relationship with Louis.

I sighed and leaned on the wall, making sure I had everything in my purse. I finally heard her close the bathroom door and I looked up, taking in the full sight of my sister.

A sister who I barely even recognized.

Her nose was pierced with a small, silver ring through it, her ears now had four piercings in each of them. Her hair was curled, longer until her hip, darker, dyed that way for her job. She wore a cream colored blouse, a matching set of a sage green blazer and dress pants, with cream colored heels. She had on a long necklace and a shorter one, layering them on top of each other. She wore a diamond bracelet, a replica of the one Klaus gave to Caroline in her favorite show, and a Pandora one. Her fingers were mostly empty, except for two rings: a friendship ring she shared with one of her coworkers in her left middle finger, and the promise ring from Damon she thinks I gave her on her right ring finger. The ministry took the family crest ring away from her, along with her wand and Hogwarts uniform, doing their best to build her muggle backstory as credibly as possible.

Kathy groaned. "You know I hate it when you look at me like that." She walked over to me, pulling on her blazer nervously and holding her hand out for me to hand her her set of car keys.

"Now I can't look at my sister?" I teased as I gave her her keys.

"Not like that, not like... not like you don't recognize me." She shivered at the thought as she grabbed the keys from my hand.

I froze. My body stiffened and I had to bite my tongue to not say the first thing I thought of.

Because I don't recognize you. I wanted to scream.

But I couldn't. I held it in.

"Shut up and let's go to the car." I instructed and she rolled her eyes as she grabbed a long jacket. "Bye Percy, behave." I waved at the dog she kept, the one that the Ministry made her believe I bought for her, though it was actually Damon.

"Bye baby." Kathy picked him up and gave him a quick kiss before setting him down again and rushing in front of me.

Muggle driving is so fucking stressful, especially in New York. It's crowded, loud, there's never any parking spaces, and these drivers are bloody annoying bastards. The amount of times I've had to contain myself from hexing them when they yell at me is astonishing.
