Some people can't sleep on planes. Whether it's the uncomfortable seating arrangements, artificial air, anxiety, or one's fellow passengers, rest continually evades many a flyer.
Joe, fortunately, did not have to worry about that at all. He was out like a light. Nothing that the plane environment could throw at him could turn him back on. He fell asleep during the ascent, stayed under the whole flight, and snored through the descent announcement.
It seemed like he might even miss getting off the flight, but he was awoken by the only thing that could routinely do so: a slap to the face from his Nuzleaf.
With a half-asleep grunt, he began to stir. Over the course of over a minute, he eventually worked himself up to opening his eyes. He blinked a few times, and managed to sit up a bit. The Pokemon, standing on the seat beside him, gave him a disgruntled look. He rolled his head over to look at her, and, seeing her displeasure, smiled gently. "Alright...I'm up."
He straightened himself and rubbed his eyes with the back of his arm. He almost had to remind himself where he was as he took in the inside of the plane again; he'd never actually been on a plane before. Eventually he gazed over at the small window beside him, and was surprised to see the ground approaching outside. "Wow, looks like we're almost here!" He said, leaning over to look closer.
He gazed out over the country that was progressively getting closer, taking in the environments. It looked beautiful, but he was surprised that it wasn't so different from Galar. There of course were different trees and foliage, and not as much of the wide plains that made up the Wild Areas, but it certainly seemed like it wouldn't be hard to adjust to. That made him feel better.
"Nuz."
He turned back in his seat to face his Pokemon. "Hey, I can't help it if I'm sleepy; it's not my fault the flight they booked was at 1 AM." He stretched out his arms and sighed as he settled back into the seat.
"Nuzleaf. Nuz."
Joe rolled his eyes. "If my being tired bothers you that much, I'll get in contact with personnel resources. I'm trying to cut 'em some slack, though...they're trying their best. But...I'll only consider it if you sit down. Pretty sure you're supposed to be buckled up during the descent."
She glared at him for a moment, and without breaking eye contact, sat down in its seat and pulled its seatbelt over, clicking it into place.
He gave her a thumbs up. "Thank you..." He said before looking back out the window again. He reached down to his belt and removed his badge, and held it up beside the glass, looking at the new world before him and his credentials side-by-side.
Jo Hideo, Pokemon Ranger... he thought, before smiling and whispering to himself, "Welcome to Kanto...for whatever it is we're here for."

Ha you thought you were getting pranked.
But the real prank was the friends we made along the way (or something like that idk).
Anyway, I am serious about doing this, and I hope you guys are interested. Pokemon stuff is definitely my most popular, and I figured it couldn't hurt to do one more.
Two brief things:
1. This is not related to Pokemon Max, they do not share a universe. That story is done for me. This world will be based heavily on the actual games/anime and the general lore of the series.
2. The Nuzleaf mentioned in the excerpt is an important character, and I need a good name. Please leave suggestions for Nuzleaf nicknames (preferably ones derived from the name "Nuzleaf"), and maybe yours will be chosen (I may also find ways to incorporate some runners up).
Anyway, that's about all I have to say about it. To re-emphasize: I do intend to try to do this, this is not an april fools joke. Anyway, I'll see you guys when I see ya.
