Ch. 4 My Science Teacher Has Better Tech Than Washington D. C. Must Have

I stood at my science teacher’s door, waiting for a reaction to my strange condition. She was shocked at first, then her face straightened a little. I stood for about a minute before I remembered why I had been out of breath when I got there.

”Um, Doc, would you mind, you know, letting me in? You know, so I’m not in the open view?”

”Oh. Right. Come on, Todd.”

I walked in as she quickly shut the door behind me. I turned around to talk to her.

”Okay, so-”

”No, not here Todd. Follow me.”

She lead me to her basement, and then she turned a door aside to show another staircase. I raised an eyebrow.

”You have a second below ground floor? Why does a person need a home with two stories up and down?”

We walked down, and if it hadn’t been for the strange experience I was having, I might have wet myself at the sight of that room.

It was definitely  the most tech-savvy room I had ever seen. Devices and screens stared at about every possible angle. I can’t even begin to describe some of the things in there. Forget what I said before. She should be teaching those scientists instead of us 7th graders.

”…Whoa.” I choked out. She brought me in and took me to a classic doctors office chair, even covered in that foil. Why she had one of those I had no idea.

”Now,” she began, getting more serious. ”Tell me what happened. All of it.”

So I told her. I went from the banquet to this morning, all the way to coming there. After I finished, she got up and told me to follow her. We went to a strange pod thing, which she put me in and connected some little wires with pads on them to my body, some to normal parts and others to changed ones.

I felt a weird tingle go through my body, and then she got me out.

”What exactly did you do?” I asked, rubbing my leg, which was still feeling weird from it.

”I ran a diagnostic scan.” She replied, pulling up a screen. ”This is a simulated version of your blood stream, DNA, and basic body and cell structure. These are parts of your untouched systems,”she said, showing me images similar to videos shown in Health, which I never wanted to see again. It was bad enough that I had to run out to the bathroom to throw up after that.

She continued: ”These are of parts that the change has begun spreading to.” They looked similar to the first ones, but had some block-ish parts to them. ”These,” she said for the last screen, ”Are of the parts that are already mostly or completely affected.” I was stunned. It had spread farther, and was still moving.

”That’s…that’s just…oh man.” I managed.

She nodded. ”Look here. This is your body structure, and it’s already spread down to your middle.” She gestured to my back. ”Just take a look.”

I immediately turned my head to glance behind. Yep. There it was.

A tail. A thick, yellow, scaly tail.

I officially went into panic mode.

”I HAVE A TAIL!!! I HAVE A TAIL!!!!! DOC WHAT IS HAPPENING TO ME!?!? I CAN’T GO AROUND LIKE THIS!!!! I LOOK LIKE A CANIDATE FOR THE BIGGEST FREAK IN THE WHOLE UNIVERSE!!! WHAT AM I GONNA DO!?!?!”

”Todd, SHUT UP!” She burst out in anger. I calmed down.

”Alright, let me try to explain something to you.” she said. ”It has to do with another world.”
