Ch. 33 Not the Homecoming King

I clung to the Sceptile for dear life as it sped across the desert plains. It clearly was not trained for safety, as I almost fell off several times. Red just kept laughing, so I figured he was enjoying it. We eventually saw signs of the small town. The sand and dust began to turn to grass, and there was smoke up ahead. We were closing in.

When we pulled in, I got a good glimpse. It was incredible. I had never thought that there would be human civilizations in the Pokemon world. Even one as small as this. It was amazing and I almost forgot why we were here.

But I didn't. I saw several men walking towards a cave outside the village. Lucario was there. He prepared to follow them.

"You weren't already leaving the party without us, were you?" I say. I immediately regret it. I swear, I must have a death wish.

Lucario saw us, then turned to the men and said something. They nodded and ran into the cave. Lucario waited for us. His fists clenched, and blue flame like energy surrounded them.

"This is none of your business."

"Uh, you're involved. That officially makes it our business." I smirk. We stood in positions, ready to engage.

It happened. I just thought it, and instantly I lunged into action. We struck, using combos, distractions, whatever came to mind. We didn't hit too much, but we landed some solid blows. I sneaked behind him and prepared to land a swift shot in a few good places. He somehow spun around and engaged me in a second, meeting my attacks blow for blow, before placing a glowing palm on my chest. I look down at it, and it glows for a moment before unleashing a bright flare, and pain erupts in my chest as I'm sent flying. I land against a wall, which becomes damaged. I hear shuffling to my right and see families coming out, and surveying the scene. I quickly wave them off.

"Go! Get inside!" They only look at me and nod, before heading back in quickly. I heard the window near my head shutter closed. I look up to see Lucario sending one of Red's Pokemon soaring back towards him. Red simply collapses under this Pokemon, which I haven't seen yet and can't identify.

Lucario stands in the center of it all. Triumphant. Everyone else is defeated. He doesn't say anything. Simply turns around and walks towards the cave.

A sudden glowing purple ball strikes him in the side. He is caught off guard and goes sprawling. I turn to see a familiar face standing (barely), his hand burning with sinister energy.

"You heard the man..." He begins, looking over at me. He gives me a nod. Adrian then returns his focus to where Lucario gets to his feet. "You can't leave this party without us."

Lucario leaps into the sky, charging and unleashing an aura sphere at where he stands. Adrian leaps backward into the air, and launches two of his own spheres. The first strikes beside Lucario, the second is batted away.

Adrian rushes forward, throwing multiple attacks forward, dealing minor hits to Lucario. When they are face to face, a series of hand to hand combat attacks flurry from both sides. Lucario possessing brute force and honed skill, but Adrian unleashing power quickly and unmercifully.

Lucario beats him back with a fist to the stomach, and winds around for a spinning kick. When he collides, however, it passes through where Adrian stood. "What!?"

"It's called Shadow Sneak." A voice says from behind him. He looks at his own shadow to see a shape melting out of it. "Oh yeah, boo."

Adrian rocketed himself into the air, landing a powerful, energy uppercut to Lucario's snout. Lucario collapsed for a moment, but quickly regained his footing.
