Ch. 28 What Happened Earlier

Just in case you guys don't pick this up, this happens right after chapter 26 and a while before chapter 27.

The furry creature hopped down from the building, satisfied with it's beating of Lucario. It turned and smiled at us.

I just kind of stood there awkwardly. I took out my pokedex and held it up.

MINCCINO. THE CHINCHILLA POKEMON. NORMAL TYPE. THESE POKEMON USE THEIR TAILS AS BROOMS, KEEPING THEIR ENVIRONMENT CLEAN.

"OH-kay... that's...interesting." I managed. Glancing up, I added, "Lily?"

She nodded, giving me a hug randomly. I guess in these situations, hugs help.

"Wow, uh, are you guys okay?" I ventured.

"Why, do I look hurt?" John called. I turned to see him bench-pressing a large piece of debris.

I replied "No. Clearly not."

A faint tune began to play. I reached in my pocket, taking out my phone as my ringtone played.

To catch them, is my real test, to train them is my...

"Whoops. I'll get that." I said.

Travel across the land, searching far and wi-

"Yello?" I answered.

"Todd, are you done there yet?"

"Pretty much. What's up?"

"Something else came up. More Pokemon crossed over, but there's something strange. They seem to be fighting one another. You need to get over here, now."

"On it. We're on our way." Replying, I smiled towards John and Lily. "With company."

I hung up, and turned to everyone.

"Whelp! Guess we're going to New England!"

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Okay, New England's not super impressive. Who knew.

I won't really go into a bunch of details about that, but basically, Kadabra was protecting a strange, cute little pokemon known as Celebi. We kinda showed up and made a mess of things. Long story short, I ended up alone with Celebi while trying to protect it. We had fallen in a construction hole. It appeared to be hurt.

"Come on, little guy. Don't clock out on me here."

It shook, but then suddenly gave out light.

I covered my eyes, and when I opened them, I was in...an old building. Weird. I glanced down at Celebi. It was resting, but still appeared to be hurt. I sighed. I carried...him? Her? Out of the building. Glancing around, I knew something was not right.

I saw about the oldest cars the world maybe even remembers. And...old clothes. To be honest, it was freaking me out. Nothing looked right. I tapped my com.

"Hello? Anyone? Doc?"

For a few seconds there was static, then a beep.

__-Todd?-__

"Doc? Yes. Umm, I don't think I'm where I was. Or when for that matter."

"What? Um, okay. Try to find a newspaper."

"Okay." I found a garbage bin, and found a newspaper that looked pretty relevant. "Okay, I've got...1906. San Francisco. And, uh...you know what? Let's not talk about the main article. Oh, man that's sick."

"...Wait, what's the date?"

"Umm...April 18. Why?"

"Todd. I don't know how you got there, but you need to get out of there as soon as possible."

"Why? What's up?" I asked, moderately worried now.

"Todd, that is the exact date of the San Francisco fire and earthquake."

"Oh. Huh."

"Todd. Run. Now."

"Running. Very running."

When you panic, you tend to ignore grammar.
