Ch. 32 Thanks for the Memories

---

-??? POV-

The pokedex finished it's description of the Pokemon, and I snapped it closed. "Pretty cool. I think we can catch it. All right, let's go, Kricketune!" I pulled a Pokeball from my belt and tossed it out. The large reddish cricket pokemon appeared in a flash of light. However, looking at the Pokemon I was getting ready to catch, it's eyes were open wide. It was almost like it was surprised by it. That was weird. No Pokemon I had seen had ever acted like that.

Curious, I held Kricketune off, and walked up to the Sandslash. It looked at me with large eyes. It nervously pointed to Kricketune. "Who, that? That's my friend. Kricketune. Hey, Kricketune, come here."

It didn't seem to want it to come, because it took off. It's speed surprised me. I stood up. I sighed and pulled out Kricketune's pokeball. "Well, guess you better come back, big guy." He began to glow with a red light, and shot back into his pokeball. I pulled out another, yelling, "Let's go, Sceptile!"

The green plant lizard appeared. "You ready to run?" He gave me a gleeful look. "That's what I thought."

-Later-

I eventually caught up to it. I stopped a little behind where it did, so I could approach it on foot. I came up to it. "Hey, big guy. Listen, I don't wanna hurt you." I held out a hand to it. It stared. Then it reached out and, slowly, touched my hand. It held it for a little while.

I looked him in the eyes. "My name's Red. Nice to meet you." It closed it's eyes. When it opened them, I saw ferocity and recklessness in the way it looked. Almost as if it remembered something. Then suddenly it's eyes widened. It let go of me, and leaned towards the ground. It put it's head against the dirt. It suddenly stood up and tugged on my sleeve.

"What? What's up?" I asked, kneeling down to it. It pointed towards a mountain side, then took off. I quickly leaped atop Sceptile and took off after it.

When we arrived, I saw what probably had it worried. Several rocks were being thrown into the ground. I looked around for what was causing it. I was surprised to see a strange purple Pokemon I had never seen before standing on a high ledge throwing them at something. The other creature moved again, and I got a good enough look to see that it was an Emolga. I didn't know what to think, but I couldn't let the innocent Emolga get hurt. I clutched Kricketune's Pokeball.

"Cut...it...out!" I yelled, tossing it quickly towards the strange Pokemon.

-3rd POV, will switch to first without notification-

The Sandslash frantically spun around in the chaos. It watched as the tall, strange creature ran around, shouting things to the cricket-like creature. It tried to comprehend it, but it was overwhelmed. It then focused it's eyes on the purple one. And it's victim. The little creature's terrified position seemed almost...familiar. The same was true about the menacing look on the purple creature. It all seemed to be...like...

Home.

Memories began to flood back, names matching faces, dates matching events, emotions matching circumstances. It began to remember so much. It closed its eyes to process it.

When I opened them again, I knew what I had to do.

-Todd POV-

I saw another rock falling quickly towards Red this time, instead of Kricketune. I reacted, launching myself and bringing my claws across the surface as fast and hard as possible. I pile of rubble scattered to my sides. I stared up at the Sableye. "Adrian, STOP!!" I shouted. He was caught off guard. He probably was feeling confused, realizing this was his real name. He glared.

I saw out of the corner of my eye Red's eyes wide with shock. "You...it...he..." I ignored him for now.

I turned my attention back to Adrian. "Come on, big guy. You don't want to hurt me." I took a deep breath and reverted to my human form. "You know me. You're my friend." Adrian stopped. He closed his eyes to think, and they re-opened less hostile. He went down on one knee suddenly, likely realizing everything and feeling the effects of how much power he had used. He slowly changed back to human form.

He looked at me and nodded. "Thanks."

I grinned. "Don't mention it."

We stood there silent for a little while. Then Red finally spoke up.

"Uh, I guess you two know each other?"

-Later-

Once we had reminded Nelly of her memories, and clarified ourselves on what had just happened, we began the long and painful process of explaining it all to Red.

"So, let me get this straight. You guys are from another world, and you have the ability to transform into Pokemon. So, what are you doing here?"

We told him about how we found the rupture in space time, and had accidentally been forced through it. "I guess something about how we were unprepared to travel through space time messed up our memories." Adrian concluded. I nodded, but something was bothering me.

"We came in here to find Lucario, right? So, where is he?"

"Wait, you guys are looking for a Lucario?" Red interrupted.

"Yeah, why?"

"I heard on the radio that a town somewhere nearby had some reported sightings of a Lucario near some ruins. I think the town was called Celestial Town."

I stand up. "We gotta go."

"Agreed." Adrian stands up and turns to Red. "You got a way to get across land fast?"

"I think I can make some arrangements." He smiled.

To be continued...

-About one year ago, in the now modified timeline-

The alarms began blaring, and people's screams could be heard. Overall, not a great thing to hear in the bathroom. Joey was just finished "doing his business." Right before he flushed, he heard a voice outside the stall. He quietly walked to the door. There were two teens, dressed in what appeared to be the same hoodie. They talked quietly, and when they seemed to be finished, they closed their eyes and suddenly two strange portals appeared behind them. They nodded at each other, and stepped through quietly. The portals disappeared immediately after they stepped through them.

Joey opened the door a crack more, and finally flushed the toilet and walked out. He suddenly realized that some of a strange gas was leaking through the door of the bathroom. He turned and ran, thankfully finding a high up window. He was pretty good at wall climbing, and began to climb. He eventually reached the window. As he opened it, a bit of the gas spread in front of his face. He quickly closed his mouth. Some went in, but he figured if he didn't breathe it, it probably wouldn't work. He opened the window and climbed out. He closed the window as soon as he got out, and he knew the gas hadn't spread outside. He found a drinking fountain and washed out his mouth a little bit. As he came around front, he saw several ambulances, fire trucks, and police cars. Someone spotted him and ran over to him.

"Are you alright?"

"Yeah. Yeah, I'm fine."

"Where were you?"

"I was in the bathroom."

"Did you breathe in any gasses?"

He didn't feel strange, and hadn't technically breathed it, so he replied, "No. No, I don't think so."

"Okay, I'm going to need to take you to the hospital, just to be safe. Can I get someone you know? Their phone number, or at least their name?"

"Uh, I know my sister's phone number."

"Excellent, and what is her name?"

"Taylor. Taylor Green."

-----

If you don't remember, Taylor was in Chapter 2. She is Todd's best friend, and Joey's older sister.
