Ch. 40: The Greatest Ally
I looked at Lucario's beaten, exhausted body. He was as much a victim as he was a part of it. And then something clicked.
"Guys, I've got it. I know how we can boot this thing up."
"How?"
"With him." I replied, pointing at our beaten enemy lying on the ground.
"What? That's crazy!" Adrian complained.
"I know, but he looks like he fell victim to this too. And he will want to stop Dark Todd if it's the last thing he does. I know it."
Adrian said nothing, but he stood up and looked me in the eye. "All right. I'm doing this because you're my friend, Todd, and because I trust you."
He walked over and began to wake Lucario. After he awoke, and some convincing that this was what had to be done, he reluctantly stood and placed a hand on the machine. Adrian began operating the controls, and Lucario began to power up the machine. A whirring began to sound, and things began to work.
Suddenly, a quick shuffling could be heard. I turned to see who else but evil me approaching Lucario quickly. He was too far from any of us. Taylor still desperately thrust her arm out to try to help.
A ball of fire appeared, hitting Dark Todd and sending him into a wall.
We all stared at Taylor. Her hand smoking slightly.
"What...did you just do?"
She didn't say anything.
"There. The machine is powered up." Adrian announced as he turned to us. Everyone stared awkwardly. "What did I miss?"
Suddenly, I saw something behind Adrian. I shoved him aside and tackled it. Maybe not my best choice, but I did it anyway.
I found myself on top of a large creature. Its skin was a blueish gray, and it had a strange belt on its waist. Oh yeah. And it had four arms.
After pulling myself out of the wall ten point five seconds later, we realized we were surrounded by various Pokemon.
"Uh, wow, this day has certainly not turned out like I had hoped." I sighed.
We began to fight. I took on some, but there were way too many for even all six of us. I realized that nothing as gonna stop them.
I looked at the device. A button was flashing violently. I quickly began to make my way over to the machine. I dodged a stray punch, slipped under a falling creature, and sprung off of a head. I flew to the machine and punched the button. It began to pulse, and then another wave of energy came out.
"Oh, cra-" I began before the wave hit me and smashed me into the wall. I groaned, but when I opened my eyes I saw the creatures shrinking and changing. "Yay..."
I winced as I walked over to a window. It was all over. Our biggest fight yet won, our friends and family saved, and it was over. It didn't mean it wouldn't continue, but at least we had a solid victory.
I stared up at the sky as the sun came over the horizon. I smirk appeared on my face.
"We're not out. We're better than ever. And you know what? I just have one thing to say." I turned and began walking away, but I turned around one more time.
"Merry Christmas, world."
And then I turned back.
