Ch. 10 Secrets and Lies (For Real This Time)
The rest of the day went by normally, apart from the fact that the girl who screamed was taken to a mental hospital and died later due to natural(ish) causes (insanity).
Kidding, relax. No one was harmed.
(Author Note 3/28/18: I apologize for that. I was weird when I wrote this [like almost four years ago])
I got home and immediately left. Really, all I needed to do was tell mom that I was alive, and everything was good. I hurried to Doc's house, and arrived to see Adrian sitting on her couch.
"Oh. It's just you."Adrian muttered.
"What do you mean just me!?!? I'm the one who just had to fight a bunch of gas balls while you-"
"Worked on double accelerated calculus."
"Yes, you-wait, what!?"
"You heard me." he replied, and went to the basement.
"How does double accelerated calculus even exist? Wow..." I said to myself, then grinned. I ran to the doorway.
"NNNEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRDDDDDDDD!!!!" I called down. This was not a smart decision.
After Doc prevented him from ripping my face into a new configuration, she brought us down to the basement. Nelly and Harper weren't there yet, but Doc took us anyway.
She put us in the pod again, and she stared closely at a screen. For a long time.
"Um, Doc? You want to tell us what you're looking at?" I asked.
"Oh. Yes. I studied the compound that affected your cells, changing your form. It's very complex, a mixture of organic and inorganic substances acting on the mitochondria of a cell, and it acts as a bonding agent and increases the production of your cells and also sends RNA to-"
I was bored out of my mind here and didn't hear anything else she said. I kind of stood there, thinking of how boring science class got with her. I then realized I wasn't hearing anything. She had stopped talking.
"These...these compound functions...they're..."
"Um, Doc? You alright?"
She blinked "Yeah, it's...it's nothing."
"Yeah...sure." I replied, though I really didn't believe her.
Just then the pokedexes went off, and I pulled it out. Doc pulled up a screen, some kind of map of town. She typed quickly, and a dot appeared on the screen.
"That's it." She stated, "I've got the signal. It's faint, but I think you should check it out."
"All right, where is it?" Adrian replied.
She typed some more. "At the office building of that company, Pocket Man."
Oh great. I thought. Not only does it have the lamest company name in the history of the universe, they're the reason we're freaks right now. Then another thought hit me.
"Wait a minute: spying mission right? Awesome! ESPIONAGE!"
"We headed up to the ground level. I turned to leave, but as I did the door opened in my face. I went down as I saw Harper and Nelly enter the house.
"You didn't think you could leave without us, did you?"
"Ow." I grunted.
"Yeah. Kinda." Adrian replied.
"OW." I said loudly. Still no one cared.
"Let's go!" Nelly said, and they turned to leave.
"OW-oh forget it." I grunted as I got up.
We arrived soon. We ran to a next-door alley. I got ready. This was gonna be fun.
END TODD'S POINT OF VIEW
I sighed as I walked out of the quarters I had at this facility. This human body was not pleasing, and I had to get back into my real one soon. I just didn't know how.
I found the director, a human called Marcus. He insisted I call him sir for some reason. I spoke to him.
"You requested to see me, sir."
"Yes, we have received word that four children entered an alley beside the building. They have disappeared off our radars around the building. Are the robot sentries prepped?"
"Yes, I shall see what I can do."
I walked to my quarters and used my aura vision. I saw all the usual aura signatures. Then I caught them. Four I didn't recognize. I saw one, and was fascinated. His aura! It was mixed with mine! He had received my aura. He had it powering him as well. Then, it should work for me.
I walked out and headed to the corridor I had seen them on. The man from before called out.
"Where are you headed?" He asked.
"To the children." I replied, at long last seeing aura energy light my hands with flame. "I will handle them myself."
