Summer Danvers
"W-what?" Raymond stutters and I sort of regret what I said. Maybe I shouldn't have said that?
"I-I mean..... I-" Thankfully, my phone rings at that exact moment, and I pick up my phone and bring it to my ear. "Hello?"
"Hey, Summer." Sean says.
"Oh hey!"
"I was just wondering, do you wanna hang out?"
"Right now?" I eye Raymond.
"Uh, yeah. If you want to. Are you busy?"
"Um... Sort of...."
"What are you doing?" He asks.
"Literature assignment."
"Oh.... With who?" I freeze as soon as I hear those words.
"W-what? I c-can't hear you! What did you say I-" I say and hang up quickly, turning back to Raymond. Why can't I just tell Sean? We're not even dating for real. Besides, Ray is a family friend, remember?
"Who was that?"
"One of my friends."
"Oh."
"Yeah. So, let's keep going, um...." I look at the screen of my MacBook and sigh. "What are we going to do?"
"I don't know."
"Look, let's take a break. I'll get some food." I say and head downstairs. I get a packet of Doritos and some drinks, and head back up. When I do, I hear two voices. One's definitely Raymond, and the other.....
"Why are you not going for her?"
"What?"
"What? I thought you liked her!"
"I know, I-"
"Lexi, what are you doing here?" I interrupt, walking into the room.
"She was just leaving." Ray says quickly and I watch as Lexi rolls her eyes and heads out of the room. Then I see her pop her head around the door. "I don't want to interrupt anything...." She gives us a smirk and walks off. I stand there, and he sits there in complete silence for a few minutes until I decide to break it.
"Here." I hand a drink over to him, and open the pack of Doritos. And once again, we sit in awkward silence. This time Ray speaks up, taking me by surprise.
"Tell me something."
"Like what?" I ask, sitting cross legged on my bed, eating some Doritos.
"Um... Anything."
"You basically know everything about me."
"And all the embarrassing stuff too." He adds and we both laugh. A silence fills the air, again, and I want to thank him so much for saying something, until I realise what he said. "Why did you date Sean?"
"What?"
"Why did you date Sean?"
"You already asked me that." I say.
"Not exactly that."
"Still." I shrug, not wanting to answer this question.
"But why?"
"Because he asked me out." I say simply.
"Do you like him?"
"Why do you think I said yes?" I snap, and let out a sigh. "Do we seriously have to talk about this?"
"No. Sorry." Ray says, brushing his fringe aside. I always found that gesture really cute, even before we started dating. I open my mouth to say something when I hear a knock on the front door downstairs. Honestly, it was that quiet.
"I'll get it!" I hear Chase's voice from downstairs. As soon as I hear the door open, I hear pounding of footsteps up the stairs, and before I know it, Sean's standing at my bedroom doorway.
"Summer...." Sean's eyes trail over to Raymond, and a pinkish colour rises to my cheeks. "Oh hello."
"Hi. Uh, um, I was just leaving." Raymond says as he stands up. "See you at school." He says to me and heads out of the room.
"W-what are you doing here?" I stutter, looking up at Sean.
"I thought something happened." He says sheepishly.
"Oh." I blush, when my thoughts trail back to my weird attempt to avoid answering a question which Sean managed to find out anyway. "Sorry about that. I don't know what happened."
"Oh. That's.... Well I'm glad everything's okay."
"Yeah...." I trail off, looking at my the screen of my laptop, fiddling around with it. Sean comes and sits down next to me on my bed, and I look at him.
"Can I stay for a bit?"
"Sure." I shrug, and close the lid of my MacBook and put it back into its case.
"So. Were you and Raymond working on an assignment?"
"Yeah."
"Cool." He says.
"Um..." I desperately think of something to talk about, not wanting to sit here in awkward silence, especially after that's exactly what had happened with Raymond.
"I heard you two were friends since you guys were little." Sean says, and I nod.
"Yeah." I mentally slap myself for answering in such short sentences. We sit another awkward silence once again. "Um, what are you going to do after you finish on this film?" I ask.
"I don't know.... I guess I'll maybe travel or stay here, or my manager might get me another casting in another film, I don't know." He shrugs. I wait a few good moments and I speak up.
"It must be hard."
"What do you mean?"
"You know, with all those rumours and everything." I say.
"Oh. That. Yeah. I guess so."
"I've always wondered how celebrities manage to make all the rumours die down all the time." I say and Sean stays silent for a while, as if considering this.
"Um, well, I don't know. I just always find a way I guess. My manager, Kain's a huge help. He really helps me through all this.... I, I don't know how I would've managed without him."
"Has he been your manager since you first started acting?"
"Yeah. He was there all through my courier, and I'm really glad that he's still sticking with me. I hope he will until the end." He says.
"Of course he'll stick with you. You're like the perfect person to be a manager for. You're famous, you get casted into a lot of films, you're known to a lot of people around the world, you're.... Sort of.... Um....." I trail off.
"What? What am I?"
"Um....." I start to blush. I should've just kept my mouth shut.
"Is it... Because I'm attractive?" He jokes, and I blush even more.
"N-no." I say, as I clear my throat. He laughs.
"I'm only joking." He chuckles. "So." He looks me in the eyes.
"So." I reply. We stay quiet for a bit, and I open my mouth to say something, and close it again. He watches me, and I adjust my gaze to the floor. I look back up again, and then I feel another pair of lips against mine.
