Summer Danvers

"Had the same idea?" Sean says casually, catching up to me.

"I guess." I say quietly, and we head down the stairs. We were only three stories high so there wasn't much to go.

"So.... Have you acted a bit before?"

"Um.... Just a bit. But nothing like this." I say. I can't believe I'm talking to Sean Carter so casually like this! My friends would freak!

"I think I get how you feel. When I was younger, and started being an actor and all, I was quite.... I don't know, I guess I found it quite.... Hard. But I think I'm sorta used to it now though." He looks at me, and gives me a genuine smile. "Maybe you will too."

"Maybe." I say, and look towards the stairs. We've just past the second floor now.

"So let's start over, I haven't even introduced myself properly." Sean says, and holds out a hand. "Sean Carter."

"Summer Danvers." I shake his hand. His hand is warm, and I find myself blushing when I think that his hands are warm. That's so weird, Summer!

Soon, we both let go and there is one brief moment of awkward silence and we start walking again. I sort of hope this awkward tension between us dies down because I'll be in the same room as him until we've filmed the whole movie. And it'll just get really awkward.

"Well Summer, tell me about yourself." Sean says, as we pass the first floor, heading to the ground floor.

"Well, I like to surf. And I..... I'm..... I-"

"You surf?"

"Yeah." I say.

"Oh really? I used to know someone who surfed. Long time ago now though. So, do you compete in competitions?"

"Yeah, um... I've qualified for regionals just recently."

"Wow! That's amazing! Good luck. How are you gonna fit everything in though? Like, since you have to like, practise or something for the competitions and you also have to film." Sean says, as we arrive at the ground floor. He opens the door, and holds it for me to walk through.

"Thanks. And to be honest, I don't know. But I guess I'll have to manage somehow." I shrug. I pause. "Anyway, I've got to go. You probably need to go too. S-see you." I say.

"See you on set then." He says and walks away.

I head out of the building, and search for my mum's car. But it's no where to be seen. Oh god, where the heck is she? She did text back to say she would arrive soon. I sit down on a bench, and text mom again, to hurry up and pick me up. I sigh, as I stare into blank space.

I suddenly hear someone giggling and look up to see Savannah dangling her arm through- I look at the boy next to her, Raymond Elliot's arm. Ray told me he didn't like her, like, at all in any way thinkable. My mind suddenly freezes for a second. I shake my head. Well, I guess people can change. It's none of my business anyway. I look back down at my phone, to see a text.

Hey how was the meeting?

Brittany texted me. I smile at a distraction and text her back immediately. Just when I'm about to press send, I sense someone sitting next to me. I glance sideways, and see Savannah, and Raymond sitting on the other side of her.

"Hey Summer." Savannah says casually. I scoff. She's acting.... Different towards me now. Savannah's been trying to actually talk to me now. As if I'm gonna talk back. Now don't go saying I'm overreacting, or being hard on her or whatever, because I'm not.

Me and Savannah actually used to be really close friends but then she got jealous because apparently I have rich parents, and I get whatever I want. First of all, well, yes, my siblings and I have been able to grow up where our parents had supported us well. My parents are very hard working people, and they worked really hard to get to where they are now to feed their five children. And second, I certainly don't get whatever I want.

And the thing is, I know for a fact Savannah's parents are also very well off. I don't get why she hates me so much. But I'm used to it now. All of that was history. So in conclusion, now she ignores me, gives me the evil eye, and purposely talks posh in front of me, and blabble on about me loudly with her friends when she walked past me, and just does ridiculous and annoying things like that, basically doing everything she can to make sure I was miserable. And after all that, she is acting so different. To be honest I'm not sure which side of her I would prefer.

"Um, hi." I say, and shuffle away from them a bit.

"Hi." Ray says, and he gives me a nod.

"I would just like you to meet my boyfriend." Savannah gushes.

"Mmhm." I say, not looking up from my phone.

"Raymond." Savannah continues. This made me look up from the screen. Raymond is her boyfriend?

"Wow.... Um..... Congrats?" I mutter sarcastically.

"Gee thanks Summer. I thought friends were supposed to be happy for their friends when they're happy." Savannah says, making me start to cough loudly the moment she said the word friends. Now she's saying that we're friends? After all that, she decides to call me her friend? I'm not gonna let this slide this easily, buddy.

"So I'm your friend now, huh?" I say, crossing my arms.

"Then what else are we?" Savannah says.

"Oh I don't know Savannah. Maybe you should be asking yourself that question. You're the one who ruined our friendship in the first place."

"What are you talking about?" Savannah says, looking at Raymond.

"Ray, I think you should go get your girlfriend here some ice." I say. "I think she needs to have something cold dumped on her to just freshen her memory up."

"What......?" Ray says.

"Just go." I say, and Raymond walks away, leaving us alone. When he's out of hearing range, I continue, turning to Savannah. "So you're saying you have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about. That's what you're saying?"

"Yeah. I don't know what you're talking about." She says, looking at her too perfectly manicured nails.

"Don't be ridiculous Savannah. Cut the crap. You're such a bad liar, you know that?" I nearly shout, and I stop and let out a sigh. "You know what? After all this, you're calling me you're friend? After all this? What have I ever done to you that made you hate me so much? What have I done?" I hiss. "You don't make any sense, and I don't care if you're dating Raymond. Like I said, Ray and I are just friends. You think I'm jealous? Well you thought wrong. And I don't care. But don't just dump him for no reason. Don't date him just to annoy me because it's not gonna work. And if Raymond really does likes you, don't hurt his feelings. I care for him, he's like a brother to me. And you know what? Just quit what you're doing. Quit what you're doing to me. Quit... This." I say, and get up and walk away, and for some reason, tears start brimming in my eyes.
