Summer Danvers

"Hey." Luke says as he slides into the seat next to mine, flashing me a smile.

"Hey." I greet him, with a smile of my own. The teacher hasn't arrived yet, and people around us are talking amongst themselves. "So......"

"So...." He replies. "Um, what are you doing after school today?"

"Why do you ask?"

"We need something to talk about... So...." He gives me a sheepish smile.

"Oh, I'm just hanging out with a friend." I say. I don't really want word to spread that I'm hanging out with Sean, I mean, if journalists and paparazzi got ahold of news like that, Sean and I's 'hanging out' would be over in seconds.

"Oh, you are? With who?" He asks curiously. I swear I saw a flash of disappointment in his eyes but I might've imagined it. Because when I look at him again, he's got a warm smile on.

"Um.... Just a friend." I say quickly. "What about you?"

"Nothing much, really." He shrugs. "Just... Random stuff." I laugh.

"What's just... Random stuff?"

"I dunno. I-"

"Okay! I've given you guys enough chit chat time, now it's work time!" Our health teacher walks into the classroom, her voice booming around the classroom.

***

My mom gives me a ride into town, and I head towards the front of the mall, looking around for Sean. When I'm around a few metres away from the entrance, I hear a voice.

"Summer." I spin around, not knowing where the voice was coming from. "Summer! Summer Danvers!" This time I realise the voice. It's Sean, but he's talking in a weird voice and it makes it hard to realise that the voice was actually him. I walk over to him, he has a SnapBack on, probably to cover is hair up, some big sunglasses, v-neck top, and some jeans.

"Oh hi! Um, Sean....."

"My name's Sam." He says and I cant help but laugh. "I'm not kidding. People might recognise me."

"Okay, okay, Sam."

"So, where to?" He says, in his normal voice.

"Um, inside?" I laugh.

"Sorry, I haven't just strolled into a mall for ages." He says as we head inside.

"How do you shop then?"

"Well, I never go shopping. My stylists and my manager organises them for me." He shrugs. "I haven't been to a mall in a long, long time."

"Wow, it must feel weird."

"Yep. Definitely." He chuckles.

***

After just walking around in the mall for a bit, we head into town, and decide to grab some ice cream. We head into an ice cream parlour, it has a few people lingering here and there.

"Hello! How's the young couple doing today?" The man at the cashier asks.

"Oh, we're not-" I start but is interrupted. Why does everyone think that I'm a couple with the guy that I walk around with?

"Good. Very good." Sean says, glancing up a little. I glance in his direction, surprised by his answer, but I still stay quiet.

"Okay, so what would you like?" The man says. I order my ice cream, and Sean orders his.

"I'll pay." I say, and reach into my pocket for my credit card. Sean puts his hand on mine.

"This one's on me." He says, getting out his own credit card.

"No, it's fine-"

"No, I'll pay." He says and with that, he swipes the card.

"S..... Sam!" I say frustratedly, quickly covering up that I nearly called him Sean. I'm sorry, but he just doesn't look like a Sam.

"Yes, Summer?"

"Next time, I'm paying." I say, as the man hands our ice cream over.

"Does that mean there's a next time that we can hang out together?" He smirks and I just roll my eyes as we say our thanks and walk outside. But what I did notice is the man looking at Sean very strangely as he passed over the ice cream. I really hope he doesn't realise that he was Sean Carter. We sit down on a bench, and have our ice cream.

"So, how did your surfing competition go?" Sean asks.

"Good... I guess." I say slowly, licking some of my ice cream. Then the memory hits me again. The fight with Raymond, how he acted like nothing was happening.... And I freeze. After a moment of silence, Sean speaks up.

"Uh, Summer? Are you okay?" He asks.

"Y-yeah." I say, but I can't help the tears ringing in my eyes. I can't break down here. I can't. I can't. Why am I still crying over him? I should be over him. I quickly wipe them away but Sean notices.

"I'm sorry. Did I say something wrong?" He says softly, looking at me worriedly.

"No, it's fine. It's fine." I say. Then I feel a hand on my own, and I look up at Sean.

"Do you want to talk about it?"

"I..... I don't even know why I'm being such a wreck. I should be over it now." I say, and let out a sigh, then suck in a deep breath. "My boyfriend.... I saw a photo of h-him kissing another girl in the newspaper but he said that the newspaper people took a photo of them because one of them suggested that they should pose for a photo kissing. And he also said that she made the first move to kiss him but I don't know. God, I'm so stupid. I don't even know why I'm crying about him right now. I should be over him." I pause. "I'm sorry, S-Sam. I just.... I shouldn't be.... I shouldn't be crying it all out on you. I'm sorry."

"Don't be sorry." He says softly, shuffling closer to me and putting an arm around me.

"But I am, Sam. I just really am and I-" I'm stopped when I feel another pair of lips on my own.
