Raymond Elliot
I glance at my phone to see it reads 6:04 pm. I shove my hands into my pockets as I look around. I'm not a very patient person so... If she doesn't turn up soon, I'm leaving.
"Uh, excuse me." I hear someone say behind me, and I move aside for them to walk through.
"Sorry." I say, as I look at the floor. Oh come on, she should be here by now. She-
"Hey!" A familiar voice says, making my head whip around to face Sophie. I notice she's wearing a blue skirt, with a striped top with a cardigan.
"Hey." I say as she walks up to me.
"I already bought the tickets a few days ago." She says, handing me one. "Here."
"Oh thanks." I say, as I take it.
"Let's go in then!"
"Would you like some popcorn?" I ask.
"Sure."
"I'll get us some food." I say as I head into the cue.
After I get us some popcorn and drinks, I hand some over to Sophie as we start walking over to the cinema we would be watching our movie in.
"So what movie is it?"
"Oh... Um, I forgot the name of it, but I'm pretty sure it's about this-"
"Tickets?" A guy asks us, standing at the entrance of the cinema. We both hand ours over, and he rips a bit off of it and we head inside. It's dark, and the movie hasn't started yet, so we quickly look for our seats.
"F.... F.... Here! Here's F!" Sophie whispers and I walk over to her. "We're F-14 and F-15 so this way." Sophie says. I notice that there's a couple sitting in between us and our seats, having a full on make out session. I cough awkwardly and they spring apart.
"Sorry." I mumble as me and Sophie walk past them. We soon get to our seats and sit.
"It should start soon." Sophie says excitedly.
"Cool." I say, and pop some popcorn into my mouth.
The movie starts moments after. I keep my eyes on the movie but I can't help but notice Sophie looking at me often throughout the entire movie. When I can't bear it anymore, I look towards her. Before I can say anything, I feel another pair of lips on mine, and it takes me a moment to realise that Sophie's kissing me. And it takes me a second longer for me to realise I'm kissing her back. I feel her lips turn into a grin against mine, and before long, we both pull away, out of breath. When I look at her with a blank face, she grins back, and she holds my hand for the rest of the movie, and for some reason I don't let go.
When the movie finishes, I get up slowly and walk out of the cinema.
"Are you hungry? Should we eat something?" Sophie asks.
"Sure." I shrug. We head into a pizza and pasta restaurant next door, and take a seat.
"Hello, may I place your order?" A waiter asks.
"Um, one sweet and sour pasta and....." I look at Sophie.
"Me too, me too! One more sweet and sour pasta please." Sophie says and the waiter nods and walks away. "So......" Sophie says. I clear my throat.
"Do you... Do you train everyday? I mean for surfing. Do you train everyday for it?" I ask, not being able to think of something better to say.
"Well.... Yeah. I still do. Because if I stop, I might lose my technique and.... Yeah. That's my secret that helps me get into nationals all the time. Do you?"
