Summer Danvers
"My favourite thing to do! Shopping!" Brittany squeals as her, Phoebe and I head into the mall to get dresses for the dance. "Ooh! Let's go into this shop!" Brittany suggests and we all head in. "Oh my god, that's so cute." Brittany comments as she gestures to a black dress, with little diamond studs in it, coming down to about knee-length.
"Yeah, but it has to be floor length." Phoebe says. At our school, all the girls have to wear floor length dresses to dances, but sometimes they say we're allowed to wear whatever dress we want. But this dance is probably formal if we have to wear floor length dresses.
"I know." Brittany sighs. "It's sucks."
After a lot of, 'oh my god, this is pretty!' And a lot of going to the changing rooms to try the dresses on, we finally find a dress that we like each.
Phoebe's is black and sort of peachy, black at the top of the dress, and the long, flowy bit being a peachy sort of colour.
Brittany's is a light, aqua-blue colour, and the first layer of the fabric on the dress is a little shorter on one side. And she has little diamond studs at the top of the dress.
Mine? Well mine's purple, because apparently, it 'brings out my eye colour and looks pretty with my hair because it goes well together.' Brittany's words, not mine. Well mine also has diamond studs at the top of my dress, but it's a different pattern to Brittany's dress, and my dress has a few really light, purpley fabric on top of the purple fabric of my dress. I quite like it, actually, but I just hope I don't trip when I walk in the dress.
"Yay! We've all found beautiful dresses to impress our dates." Brittany wiggles her eyebrows and I roll my eyes. She's just really excited, probably because she's going with Cody, her boyfriend, when me and Phoebe are just going with.... Friends.
My phone vibrates, and I get it out and take a look.
Trinity: Hey, r u with Phoebe and Brittany?
You: Yea
Trinity: You guys in town?
You: Yea
Trinity: Can I meet up with u guys? I need to tell u guys something.
I look up from my phone.
"It's Trinity. She wants to tell us something." I say. We asked if she wanted to come with us to buy dresses for the dance but Trinity declined, not stating a reason.
"Oh." Brittany says.
"Where?" Phoebe asks.
Where do u wanna meet?
I text Trinity and she replies.
Trinity: Starbucks?
"Starbucks?" I say and Phoebe and Brittany both nod.
Ok, we're on our way
I text Trinity and slip my phone into my pocket.
"Let's go." Brittany says and we start walking. "I wonder what she wants to tell us?"
"I know, right? And why did she say that she didn't want to come to buy our dresses?" Phoebe says.
"She also hasn't been to school in a while." I say. She can't be sick for that long, or if she is, she must be pretty sick, like, seriously sick.
When we get to Starbucks, Trinity's already there, sitting at a table, on her phone. She looks perfectly fine, I mean, she doesn't look sick or anything. I run up to her and she spots me and she stands up. I give her a huge hug.
"I've missed you!" I say as I pull away. She's got a small smile on her face, it's sort of a sad smile, but sort of happy at the same time.
"I've missed you guys too." Trinity says as she hugs Phoebe, and Brittany. "Should we order our drinks first?"
"Yeah!" Phoebe says.
We order our drinks and when it's ready, we sit at a table. Me, Phoebe and Brittany all look at Trinity expectantly.
"You know..." Trinity sighs. "I have you tell you guys something." Trinity takes a deep breath. "I... I'm not sick. That's not the reason why I didn't go to school." Trinity pauses. "It's because.... M-my parents are divorcing."
"What?" I say softly. Trinity's parents are like the best and they're so nice. I would've never thought they would divorce.
"Yeah." Trinity sighs. "I never thought it was going to happen. I heard them fight a few times and stuff, but I didn't know it was this serious."
"Your parents seem like they never fight." Phoebe says.
"I-I know. I didn't think so either. But... They did. And now they're divorcing and.... My mum's.... My mum's staying here because she found a boyfriend. He has kids and everything. And I.... I have to move out of town with my d-dad."
"What?" Brittany shrieks. "You are?"
"Y-yeah." Trinity says. "And the reason why I didn't come to school is because me and dad had to find a house and I had to go to my new school and stuff." Trinity pauses. "I... I didn't want to tell you guys until it was final. And it was final when me and dad came back home from my new school one day and all of mum's stuff was gone. My m-mum moved out." Trinity says, sniffing, wiping a year from her eye. I immediately shuffle over to her, and put an arm around her.
"I'm so sorry, Trinity." I say.
"I'm sorry, Tri." Phoebe says slowly.
"Yeah, Trin, I'm sorry." Brittany says.
"Thanks, guys." Trinity says. "I'll miss you guys so much." We all have a group hug.
"When... When are you going?"
"I..... Tomorrow." Trinity says.
"What? Tomorrow?" Brittany asks and Trinity nods.
"Yeah." Trinity breathes.
"Then what are we doing here?" Phoebe says and stands up. "We should be making the most of your last day!" Phoebe says. I stand up too.
"Yeah. Come on Trinity, let's have some fun on your last day here. It'll be fun." I say and Trinity smiles, and we all stand up and walk outside.
***
"I'll miss you, Trinity." I say as I hug her, for the last time. The others have already given her a hug.
"I'll miss you too, Summer." Trinity says as she hugs me back. When I pull away, she hops into her dad's car.
"Bye Trin!" Brittany waves.
"See you Trinity." I say.
"Have a great last day." Phoebe says as Trinity waves to us and they drive away. I sigh.
"I didn't see that one coming." Brittany says.
"What do you mean?" Phoebe frowns as we head over to the bus station.
"Well, I didn't expect her to leave, I mean, I suspected she wasn't sick, but her leaving? That's what I least expected." Brittany explains.
"Yeah, same." I say.
-------------
Awwwwwww! Trinity's leaving :( I know Trinity hasn't really come up in this story as much as the other characters, but she's still sweet.
Also, it doesn't let me post all of their dresses for the dance at the same time so I'll be posting one dress every chapter. Don't worry about the actual people, just look at the dresses! :) This one's Brittany's. What do you think?
This chapter was dedicated to @fiercelife for voting for a chapter!!! Thank you so much! xx
There are only ten chapters left, which is so sad, I really enjoyed writing this book, but don't worry, there's still ten chapters to go!! ;) Thanks guys!! xx :D
