Sophie Reels
"Mum!" I yell.
"Yes, honey?" My mum replies. I run down the stairs into the kitchen.
"Mum, all my waterproof make up is gone!"
"Soph, you can live without make up."
"No I can't, mum!"
"Yes you can, dear."
"I can't, mom. I really need it, especially today." I whine.
"Why today? A while back you were okay to go to a surfing competition without waterproof make up."
"Yeah, well. This time's different. I really need it today, mum! Please please please please!" I pout. I'm an only child and if I keep asking about stuff I want, I get it eventually. Selfish? Spoilt? I know.
"Be ready in five minutes." Mum sighs.

"Hey, Raymond." I walk up to Raymond, with my surfboard in hand.
"Oh hey." He says, turning away from the sea, to face me.
"You nervous?"
"A bit." He says. "So many people here though."
"Yeah, it's like this every year. People just go crazy, you know?" I say, putting a hand on my hip.
"Yeah..... Any last minute advice?"
"Well, I guess just the fact that you should maybe block everyone out, pretend that you're just having a practise, and you're training." I say, taking a step towards him. "You've got a little...." I reach up, and brush his fringe aside. "There. All better."
"Um, thanks?" He says slowly, stepping back a little from me.
"There they are!" A voice says and both Raymond's and I's heads snap around to face the voice. They were some photographers. They rush towards us, pushing each other in the process. When they finally make their way towards us, one of them gushes, "Hi. I'm a journalist from Addersdale Newspapers, and you're both from the regional championships of surfing near Addersdale right?"
"Yeah...." Raymond says at the same time I say,
"Yes."
"Well then, I came here today to take some news back, so, how is the young couple going to compete today?" The journalist asks.
"No, we're not-" Raymond starts to say but it seems as though that the journalist has no intention of listening to him.
"You two are going to pose for a photo for me okay? I need something that is worth the front page of the newspapers." The journalist continues. "Hm, any good pose will do, just do anything."
"Um," Ray says, and I smile.
"Come on, do anything. Let's start off with something simple, stand next to each other, and hold your surfboards." The journalist says, and we do as we're told. I hear the camera make a few clicks. "Maybe arms over each other's shoulders? No, that won't do. Um, maybe stand sort of facing each other, but face towards the camera a bit?" He groans in frustration. "I just need one, good pose...."
"Kiss!" Someone from the crowd yells, and for some reason, my smile broadens. I lick my lips. This is the perfect opportunity. I've wanted to kiss this guy for a long, long time!
"Yes! Perfect!" The journalist claps his hands together. "A photo of you two kissing would totally make the front pages."
"I don't think we should-" Ray starts to say but I lean in and kiss him. I hear the fast click of the camera and Raymond pulls away quickly.
"Thank you, you two, that was-" the journalist starts, but Raymond interrupts.
"We're not dating." He says.
"You're not? Then I think a new love has just been born! I hope it goes well, thanks again and-"
"I've got to go." Ray says quickly, and walks away.

"Oh my god I'm freaking out." I overhear a girl telling her coach.
"Don't freak out, Isabella." Her coach says, and I smirk when I see Isabella's face. Her face is turning red, her eyes are glued to the waves coming into shore. I've done this loads of times, this is no prob. But the problem is, I never win. What am I doing wrong? I just don't get it.
"Hello everyone, welcome to the national championships of surfing for this year! We are very excited because there are a lot of very talented surfers this year, and we just can't wait for them to surf. So without further ado, please welcome....." The announcer says, and says a name and names of surfers who were due to surf after the first contender. I look around, and see Ray talking to his coach, and I can't help but admire his hot looks. His hair brushed to the side, and I remember how soft his hair was when I touched it. He has the perfect features, with abs like the hottie he is. I turn to the water, and see that a surfer in the water falls off his board, with a loud splash.
"Ooh! A nasty fall there!" The announcer says, as the next surfer heads into the water. I cross my arms, as I watch the next few surfers go in and out of the water. "And the next surfer after Sophie Reels will be Raymond Elliot, and after that, Summer Danvers. we hope you're all ready, it'll be your turn before you know it!" The announcer says, and I pick my surfboard up and head into the water. The cool water nips at my skin, and I brace myself, and paddle out. I ready myself for a big wave coming in, and I stand up. "Oh no! Five-time-nationalist Sophie Reels has just fallen off her board!" The announcer says and that's all I hear when the cool water greets me. I swim up to the surface of the water and groan. "Ooh, I'm sorry to say, but Sophie is disqualified from the competition! We hope to see you next year, Sophie." The announcer says and I shout,
"Oh you sure will!" And I walk out of the water.
"And the next surfer, is Raymond Elliot!" The announcer says. "And next up is Summer Danvers and after that will be Isabella Jillinco."
"What was that?" My mum asks me, and I just roll my eyes, wrapping my towel from the ground around my body tightly.
"I don't know." I mutter.
