Summer Danvers
"So how did you find yourself captain?" Phoebe, my friend asks as Brittany just told them I somehow became captain for my team. I don't even get why it's such a big deal. But anyway I explain to her and Trinity, my other friend, and they nod.
"Wait, so Hugh......" Brittany trails off.
"I don't know what's wrong with him. I think I'd much prefer the old him than this new one. It feels weird." I admit, popping a chip into my mouth.
"Hm.... I'm gonna ask him." Brittany says.
"Don't." I say.
"Why not?"
"Just don't. Why bother?" I shrug.
"Oh, I get it." Brittany raises an eyebrow. "You like the new Hugh don't you?" I just stare at her blankly. Then she gasps. "Do you..... Like him?" My mouth drops open.
"What?! You think I.... Like him?" I burst out laughing.
"Just a thought."
"Well, you thought wrong." I say playfully.
"Okay...... Whatever you say." Brittany rolls her eyes. The bell goes to signal the end of lunch.
"Hey, I'm serious." I say. "See you guys tomorrow." Then I start walking to science. In science, I have the great pleasure of sitting next to Savannah, this annoying girl who's 'jealous' because apparently, me and Raymond have something going on between us, when we're only just friends. When I say friends, we are literally just friends. Like I believe in the guy and girl can be friends thing, I mean, yeah maybe it can change but I believe that kind of friendship can exist.
Savannah has an obvious huge crush on Ray, and I don't really care if she did or not, but she just wanted to drag me into this. So yeah. Now she has a grudge on me. I must say, she's extremely good at holding grudges. Hey, I didn't choose to sit next to her and be her lab partner. Mrs Preston said that I should sit next to her to help her out, but of course, I don't have any intentions at all on 'helping her out.' I just hope and pray every time I have science, that Mrs Preston would decide to swap lab partners.
I slide into my seat, just in time to see Savannah walking in, wearing an incredibly short skirt and a crop top. I don't have anything against skirts and crop tops. Expect her crop top looked three sizes too small for her. I scoff mentally as she slides into the seat next to mine.
"Okay class, today we will be doing a technology challenge, and you will be in the same team with your lab partner, and another pair of lab partners. So there will be four of you. Get yourselves organised or else I will choose the groups for you." Mrs Preston claps her hands together, and everyone starts to get off their seats.
"Do you seriously need to have a skirt that short?" I scoff, I just can't hold my remarks in anymore. Savannah looks at me.
"Me?" She points a finger at her, and I roll my eyes.
"Yeah, you." I say.
"You jealous?"
"Of what?"
"I'll tell you why I'm in such a cute outfit today." She ignores me. "I'm going to the beach later with Raymond."
"Yeah, so?" I retort.
"Well, um..." Savannah starts, the surprise showing on her face. "I'm going to the beach with him." She says more sternly.
"Yeah, so? Are you sure about that?" I sat and Savannah starts saying something but I just look away and ignore her and see some girls wondering about, looking for some people for their group. I haven't seen them before, they might be new. I gesture for them to come to us. The girls head over to us, whispering to each other.
"Hey, I'm Savannah. But you probably already know." Savannah says, flicking her hair over her shoulder. The girls make their introductions and I introduce myself as well.
"Um, hi. I'm Summer, and-"
"Oh my god I love the name Summer. I wish I had your name." One of the girls gushes.
"Thanks." I say, giving her a smile. Savannah huffs.
"What about Savannah? That's a pretty name." Savannah says, looking at them expectantly. I hold back a laugh, covering my mouth as the girls just look at each other.
"So today, the technology challenge is to make a small parachute, and we will be putting an egg in it, and if it cracks, then, well, you didn't do very well, and if the egg didn't crack, you may have a chance of winning. Now get to work everyone." Mrs Preston says, and everyone gets to work.

I quickly shove my wetsuit on top of my bikini, and try to do up the zip at the back. But of course, it gets stuck. I'm in my shed right now, and soon, I have to practise for regionals this weekend. I think I'm already late.
"Shoot." I bite my lip as I try to get the zip unstuck. I sigh as I take my wetsuit off, and try to get the zip unstuck. I let out a frustrated groan.
"Knock, knock?" I hear someone say.
"Yeah?" I peek around the door, to see it's none other than Raymond.
"Oh, hi." I say briefly, still trying to get the zip undone.
"Oh, I-I was just walking by, when Jake told me to tell you to hurry up." Ray says hurriedly. "You're not naked behind there, are you?" He asks awkwardly. I shake my head, letting out a slight laugh. I don't know why this situation is so awkward. It's never awkward between Ray and I.
"No, I'm not." I say, trying to get the zip unstuck hurriedly. Jake hates it when I'm late, and so do I, but what can you do if you can't help it?
"You struggling a bit there?" Raymond asks, looking at my wetsuit.
"Um, yeah, I kind of am." I mutter sheepishly.
"Pass me it." He says, and I hand it over to him, our fingers brushing against each other, and I feel tingles go up my arm, and I feel heat getting to my cheeks, but I ignore it. I'm blaming this on this weirdly awkward tension between us.
In no time, he has the zip unstuck, with not much effort. He grins at me, and I roll my eyes.
"Show off." I say as he passes me my wetsuit. I reach for it but he yanks it back.
"What did you say?" He raises an eyebrow.
"Show off." I say louder this time.
"I am not a show off."
"You are." I say, and Ray crosses his arms over his chest.
"Fine then, you go surf in your bikini." He starts to walk away, when I grab his wrist, pulling him back. He turns around, a bit too quickly, and our bodies are suddenly pressed against each other's, his lips inches away from mine. I quickly spring back. "Um, here." Ray says awkwardly again and hands me my wetsuit.
"Thanks." I say and head into my shed to put the wetsuit on. I quickly grab my surfboard and head out. I see Raymond's nowhere in sight, and I head over to the water. "Hey." I say as I jog over to where Jake is standing, his arms crossed.
"Why are you so late?"
"I'm sorry, I'm here now aren't I?" I huff. Blushing a bit at the thought of my what made me even later than I already was. I brush the thought aside, and smile at Jake, who frowns at me, his arms still crossed.
"Alright. Just do the warm up. And we'll work from there." Jake says, and I jog over to the water, my feet immediately greeted by the cool water.
