Summer Danvers
I let out a sigh as I lay on the grass, looking up at the stars.
"Today was nice by the way. Thank you." I say.
"No worries." I hear Sean chuckling beside me. Tonight we went to watch a movie and we had some dinner and we came here, a little clearing facing the ocean. We both lie in silence, when I shiver slightly, and Sean notices. "Are you... Are you cold?"
"Um." I bite my lip. "No."
"You are cold." Sean says. "Here." He takes his jacket off and drapes it around my shoulders.
"No, really, I'm fine. You'll be cold." I say, taking it off me and passing it to him. But he doesn't take it.
"Summer, I'm fine. You take it."
"N-no, I just-" I stutter, but hold the jacket close. "Thanks." I mumble. We sit in silence again and I face the ocean, watching each wave as it comes into shore. I can't help but notice Sean looking at me the whole time, out of the corner of my eye. I look towards him. "What?" I blush a little.
"Nothing." Sean shrugs.
"Why are you staring at me like that? Have I got something on my face or something?"
"No, you don't. You look....."
"I look.....?" I say, but Sean just shrugs, and I look out towards the ocean.
"Summer." Sean says and I look towards him. He leans in slowly, slowly, and I lean backwards. Is he... Trying to kiss me? When he gets really close, a few inches away, I put a hand on his forehead and push his head away lightly. Sean pulls back, slightly surprised.
"No. You can't do that." I say quickly, and Sean frowns. I stand up quickly, dusting off my skinny jeans. "I-I'm going." I say, and walk away. Suddenly I feel someone grab my arm. I spin around.
"Summer..... Listen, I-"
"I-I don't think I really want to listen, Sean. Not now." I say, and walk towards the road, to try to get a cab or something. Or if I don't find one soon, I'll just call one, or call my mom, or Zach, or anyone I know that has a car.
"I..... I don't know how to say this. And I.... Um....." Sean says as I frantically look around. I see a huge truck going past and I step back a bit. "I.... I like you Summer." I hear Sean mumble something but I can't quite catch it as the truck races past.
"What?" I frown at him.
"Uh.... Let me take you home." Sean mumbles again and I hear him this time.
"N-no thanks. I can.... My mom can pick me up."
"No I'll call someone. I'll call my-"
"No we don't need to call anyone. I can just get my mom to pick me up, it'll be fine." I say, as I get my phone out, and text mom in capital letters.
PLZ PICK ME UP RIGHT NOW
I press send and I realise I hadn't told her where from so I text her where we were right now.
"Uh... Are you sure? I can just take you-"
"I'm fine." I say quickly, shooting him a small smile. "I-I wanted to go into town for something with my mom anyway so I might as well do it now." I lie.
"Oh okay. If you say so." Sean says and about five minutes after, my mum pulls up and I quickly say bye to Sean and shut the door as quick as I can.
"Hey honey-"
"Mom, step on it." I hiss, and mom starts to drive away. I sigh when we're back on the road.
"What happened?"
