Raymond Elliot
"Really? Who?" I say when I hear from Luke that Summer's hanging out with a 'friend.'
"She didn't say." Luke shrugs.
"Raymond, Luke, we have a football practise today." One of the guys from our football team says, with a few other guys from our team as well.
"What, why? I thought Coach canceled this one?" Luke says.
"He did, but then he must've changed his mind or something. Now I have to skip my date with my girlfriend and go to practise. You know how coach hates it when we skip practises." Another one of the guys from our football team speaks up. "Anyway, see you guys at practise, we better go." And they walk away.
"We better go too." Luke says. I sigh as we walk.
"I would've skipped practise if I was on a date with Summer." I say.
"You would get in huge trouble, man." Luke says.
"So? It doesn't compare to getting a second chance with Summer."
"God, you're not giving up on this, are you?" Luke shakes his head, chuckling lightly.
"No way, I might still have a chance. You never know." I say.
"Just saying, don't get your hopes up too high."
"I know, I need to get to her before some other guy does."

"Raymond! Wake up! I need to tell you something!" Jess says, hitting my shoulder.
"Jesus, it's Saturday!"
"So? I need to tell you something! It's really important."
"What? What is it? Hurry up and tell me, then get out." I groan.
"No way, you're getting up and then I'll tell you."
"Fine." I sit up. She needs to get out of here so I can have my sleep in. I might as well do what she says if that's the only way to get her out. "There? Happy? What is it you wanted to tell me?"
"Well, don't be too taken aback by this, but Summer, um, are you two still together?"
"What?" My head snaps up to look at her. "I mean, no, we're not together."
"Oh. Anyway, I was just scrolling through Facebook, and look what I found." Jess shoves her phone in front of my face. I take one look at it, and I shove my bed covers off me and take her phone into my hands.
"WHAT?! IS THIS....?"
"Yeah, Ray, calm down, okay, just calm down." Jess says. I take a deep breath, and then look at the phone in my hands again.
SEAN CARTER WITH A POSSIBLE NEW GIRLFRIEND?
Says the top of the screen. I whisper/say/mumble the words below it.
Sean Carter was seen with the same girl who was seen kissing him not long ago in town. It seems as though they are on a possible date, we aren't sure, but we did spot them having a romantic time at a restaurant in Addersdale. Who is this girl? All we know right now is that her name is Summer Danvers, fifteen years of age attending Addersdale High. Has our Sean finally found a girl for him?
I look at the photo below it again, it's of Sean and Summer, sitting in a restaurant, laughing at something, and there's also another picture of them holding hands and walking through town. And at the very bottom, is a picture of Sean leaning in to kiss her.
"What the f- what the hell is this?" I yell. I would chuck this phone but it's Jessica's so I just pass it back to her and punch my pillow instead.
"I thought you two broke up?" Jessica says slowly.
"She broke up with me, because-" I sigh and tell her what had happened. "-but she didn't believe me."
"Of course she wouldn't. I wouldn't have if I were her." Jess says, crossing her arms. "So you're trying to get her back?"
"Yeah, duh." I pause. "Why the hell is she dating him?" I shout again, even thought I may know the answer. Of course she would choose him over me. I mean, he's a good looking celebrity. I'm just, Raymond the surfer.
"Shut up, mom and dad are gonna come in if you keep yelling like that!" Jess hisses.
"I'm gonna.... Ugh!" I get my own phone, and call Summer. Ring ring, ring ring, ring ring, ring ring. I press end call and groan in frustration.
"Uh, Ray? It's not really your business who she's dating."
"But, I..." I sigh. "You're right. It isn't. I should just leave it."
"Yeah, but if you really want her back, then maybe you should just talk to her." Jess says. "But no yelling." She quickly adds.
"Yeah, I guess I'll talk to her on Monday."
***
I put my hands in my pockets and stroll through the mall. I needed to clear my head, although I'm not sure what about exactly. I told my mom I would be back soon, even though I have no idea when soon is, or if it was any time soon. I head over to a cafe, deciding to grab a drink, and order my drink and sit down at a table. Why am I even here? Why am I even acting like this? Why can't I just forget it and go home? Why is it affecting me so much anyway?
It's because of her.
"Order's up!" The man at the counter says and I grab my drink and say a small thanks. I sit back down at the table, sipping my drink from a straw. As I feel the drink enter my mouth, I swallow and breathe a deep sigh. I feel my phone vibrate in my pocket, which I've heard so many times today, but I ignore it, continuing on sipping my drink. It's probably my mom. It's been about two hours since I left the house. Geez, I'm such a wreck. I'm acting like a girl. Why can't I just toughen up and just snap out of it?
Because it's her we're talking about.
Why am I acting like this, seriously? I should just head home. Wait, why am I acting like this?
Oh yeah, because it's her.
I wasn't good enough for her, she would rather date a celebrity. But then again, she didn't deserve me, she realised that, and so she's moved on. It's probably time I did too, but I can't. I don't even know why I can't. Why can't I? God, this is stupid. I'm stupid.
I stand up with my drink in hand, ready to go home, when I bump into someone.
"Oh! I'm so sor-" the person stops mid-sentence as they look at me.
"Summer?" I say in disbelief.
"Um, hi." She says slowly.
"Hi, I-"
"What are you-" she says at the same time as I say that.
"You go." She says to me.
"No, you." I say, gesturing for her to continue. God, why does it have to be so awkward between us? I don't want it to be awkward.
"What are you doing here?" She says, after taking in a breath.
"Uh........ Just.... Popping by to get a drink." I say, lifting the frappaccino in my hand.
"Oh."
"What about you? What are you doing here?" I say, clearing my throat.
"Um, the same as you I guess, and to just clear my head a bit." She gives me a small smile.
"A lot going on?"
"Yeah." She says, and we stand there awkwardly.
"Anyway, I-I better go." I say.
"Oh, you've got to go, right. So um, see you on Monday?"
"Yeah, see you on Monday." I say, and head towards the door.
