Long ago in the land of Hyrule, there used to be a group of assassins who used to serve the royal family by dealing with enemies who are from the darkness. But one day when Ganondorf the king of evil started a war between the light and the shadows the assassins were hired to kill him however Ganondorf was too powerful for them and some of the assassins were slaughtered by him. Few of the assassins were able to escape from the battlefield and they were hiding in among the people of Hyrule ever since.
A few years passed since that day, in Hyrule field there was ranch and there was a young girl named (Y/N) and what she doesn't know is that her father was one of the assassins that were on the battlefield. One night, on the ranch there was a barn fire and (Y/N)'s parents died in the flames while trying to save the animals and (Y/N) has been alone ever since.
Four years later.....
READER'S POV
I was walking around in the streets of Castle town and everyone kept staring at me and I'll bet they're asking themselves why am I on the streets in the first place. Well, it's not my fault that my parents died during that fire 4 years ago.
I headed to the town square and I looked at Hyrule castle it sure was beautiful I wish I can live in there instead of being on the streets. Then I saw my two cousins and my auntie I didn't want them to see me so I blended in with a group of people who were standing next to me.
I then heard Daisy speaking.
"I wonder where that pathetic (Y/n) is she's always hanging around here."
Maisie then spoke up after chuckling.
"I don't know, hey remember what she said to us the last time she came to the house? She said was going to buy the ranch back and make us pay for insulting her dead parents how stupid is that?"
And then I heard my aunt agreeing with them before speaking up.
"Very stupid, the land lord said that her father left a will but they couldn't find it and that means we get to keep the house and the rest of the property and (Y/N) has got no rights to keep the ranch."
I heard them talking about me they were to buy the ranch back well they will be having the last laugh when I get enough money to get my family's ranch back. I headed towards the abandoned house that's next to the town square. I entered the house and I saw a basket with food in it and it had a note it said, "I got you some food while you were out and I also got some wood for the fireplace so you can get warm ~Shadow".
I smiled what shadow wrote on the note. I got some wood and I placed them in the fireplace and I got the fire started. I got the pot and I filled it with some water and I hung the pot on the hook above the fire. While I was waiting for the water to boil I started to get the ingredients ready to make some beef stew. My mother used to make this for me and my father after we finished doing the chores around the barn. I heard someone coming through the door and it was shadow and I smiled at him.
"You're just in time I was about to make some beef stew, want some?"
"I'm not stopping hey, (Y/n) are you OK? I saw your cousins and your aunt in the town square I came here to check to see if you are okay?"
Shadow said with a concerned look in his eyes. I sighed sadly and looked at Shadow.
"Shadow, you should have heard them they were laughing about that I was gonna buy the place back if I had the money."
"Speaking of earning money, did you manage to get a job at Telma's bar?"
Shadow asked me. I shook my head for a no and I told him.
"Not too good I'm afraid, Telma said I need to be 18 or over to work in a bar, I'm only 15 so I didn't get the job."
When the water was boiling I got the ingredients together and I put them in the boiling water and I put the lid on the pot to wait for it to be ready within the next few minutes.
"That's not good what are you gonna do now?"
I shrugged my shoulders and I told him.
"I'm not sure, but I can tell you this much I'm not gonna work with those scum-bags"
Shadow smirked when I called my relatives that name.
"You mean, your relatives?"
"Exactly, if I did I would be admitting that I've given up on earning money to buy the ranch I tried to speak to the landlord to see if they can find the will that my father left me they still couldn't find it."
Shadow looked worried and he asked me.
"What are they gonna do now?"
"That's just it, they're gonna do nothing, the landlord said 'the ranch belongs to your aunt and your cousins and that's final'."
"What? They can't do that."
Shadow said with a slightly angry tone.
"I'm afraid they can, he said if I don't get the money at the end of the year its bye bye to my family's ranch."
"So what are you gonna do now?"
I knew I might regret telling him so I decided to tell him what I'm planning to do.
"I looked around the castle town to see if there are any jobs left there's none."
"You're not gonna give up are you?"
I shook my head for a no and I told him.
"No, I'm not which is why I'm going to Ordon village they have a ranch there and since I'm good at looking after animals they might be looking for someone like me."
Shadow was shocked at this and he said to me.
"What? But Ordon village is a few miles away are you sure you wanna leave castle town?"
I nodded my head and placed my hand on his shoulder.
"Yeah, I'm sure, besides it's my only option there are not many jobs going about up here anyway."
I started to smell the beef stew that's when I knew it was ready I got the cloth and I opened the lid and I used the wooden spoon and I dipped it into the stew and I tasted it. I smiled and I looked at Shadow.
"Beef stew is ready are you sure you don't want some?"
Shadow's kinda drooled as he smelled the beef stew and he smirked at me.
"On second thoughts I will have some."
I got two wooden bowls from the cupboard and I put some beef stew in them and I placed them on the table. Shadow tasted the beef stew and he smiled a little.
"Hmmm, this is good since when did you learn how to make stuff like this?"
"My mother showed me how to make this when I was 11 years old, remember?"
"Oh, sorry if it brings back memories."
"Don't worry its not your fault shadow."
"So when are you gonna leave for Ordon village anyway?"
"I'm not leaving just yet I need to get a few things before I leave." Shadow smiled and said, "Hey write me a list of things you need and I'll get them for you."
"Thanks, Shadow."
After I said that I got a pen and a notebook from the cupboard and started to write a few things I need for my departure.
"Here you go, these are the things I need."
I gave him the list and he said to me.
"Thanks (Y/N) I'll see you later oh and by the way, that beef stew you made it tasted really good."
After he left I blushed a little I couldn't help it that's why I love him.
