Chapter 43 Love Triangle

LINK'S POV

We finally made it to Gerudo Desert but when (Y/n) and I were about to head to the Prison that Auru was talking about Midna came out of my shadow and said,"Wait Link, (Y/n)." We both turned to look at her and she said,"Before we go on, there's something I want you two to hear."

"What is it Midna?" (Y/n) asked her. Midna then said,"...Do you two remember what the spirit said about the Fused Shadows?"

"Yeah we remember." I said. She then said,"What do you two think happened to the magic wielders who tried to rule the Sacred Realm?"

READER'S POV

I looked at Midna with a surprised look and she then said,"They were banished. They were chased across the scared lands of Hyrule and driven into another realm by the goddesses. It was another world entirely... The antithesis of Hyrule, where the sun shines bright. It's denizens became shadows that could not mingle with the light. Eventually, most came to call it the Twilight Realm, and from it, none could return to the world of light. They were forever doomed to live in the twilight, flitting in the half-light of dusk, mere shadows of Hyrule... This is the history of the Twili as it has been passed down from our ancestors..."

Midna looked at us and she then asked us,"Do you two understand what I am? I'm a descendant of the tribe that was banished to the Twilight Realm!" I looked at her with shock and I said,"you're one of them? at least that explains why your form was always in a shadow form whenever you are in the light, what happened to the Twilight realm now, Midna?"

Midna said,"It was a peaceful place...until Zant took control of the Twilight Realm and transformed all of the Twili into Shadow beasts. It's clear to me now that he somehow gained a great evil power previously unknown to our tribe. In any case, I was sent from there, and could no longer get into the Twilight Realm without his power. ...But there's another tale told by my people. Thought goddesses forbade us to return to the world of light, they left one link between the light and the darkness. Something called the Mirror of Twilight was passed to the protectors of Hyrule..."

She floated between me and Link and she said to us,"It's our only path to the Twilight Realm...and we must get there!" She placed her hand on my cheek and Link's cheek and said,"You'll come with me...won't you?" We both smiled and we nodded our heads and she then entered back into Link's Shadow.

Link and I continued to walk through the desert and there were some sand worms but we did manage to fight them off. As were walking Link then said to me,"(Y/n) when we get to the Twilight Realm what will you do?" I continued to walk and I said,"When we get there I'm going to find this friend that my dad mentioned in his note and then I'll get the apple back."

Link then asked me,"And what will you do then?" I said,"Now that, I'm not so sure, I guess I'll cross that bridge when I come to it, at least that's what they say anyway." Link then asked me,"(Y/n), I know I've already asked you this but, who is Shadow? What is your relationship with him?"

I stopped in my tracks and I turned to look at him and said,"Why are you asking me about him?" Link then said,"It's just that when he came to the Goron mines that day you ran up to him and hugged him, is he someone special to you? Because if he is, I would like to know." I smirked at him and said,"Oh, is that jealously coming from your mouth?"

I said with a smirk on my face and he started to blush and said,"W-w-what are you talking about!?" I then said,"Pfft!! Hahahaha!! I'm joking! Honestly suckers fall for that every time." Link then said,"Wha?! that was supposed to be a joke?!" I said,"All right, all right, Shadow is my childhood friend we met in a forest just outside where I lived..."

8 Years ago....

When I was about 7 years old I was helping my dad with the chickens until one of them escaped from the pen so I went to go after it. When I finally found it I looked around at my surroundings and I was in a beautiful part of the forest and that's when I first saw him. Shadow was just sitting by the edge of the river so I got the courage to talk to him.

I said,"Excuse me, who are you?" "He turned his head to look at me and said,...Hmm? It's Shadow." I then said,"Shadow? That's a strange-" He cut me off saying,"Name? Yes I know, why are you even talking to me?" I said,"Why because I was trying to this chicken it escaped from it's pen so I chased it out here." He took a closer look at me and said,"Now that I get a better look at you, aren't you, (Father's name)'s daughter?"

I smiled and said,"I am, my name is (Y/n), (F/n) (L/n)." Shadow then said,"(Y/n) that's a pretty name."

"Thank you, shadow." I said.

When I first talked to him he seemed a bit distant a first but we met up at the same spot a few times and we got a lot closer we became best friends...

Present time...

"After my brother left the country to collect bounties Shadow became like a brother to me instead of being a friend and after my parents died in the barn fire Shadow was always there for me. He always visited me and he gave me some supplies that I needed when I didn't had enough money to buy food." I explained to Link.

When it was night we sat by the fire and I continued to tell Link about Shadow and for some odd reason he had the look of jealously in his eyes. Link then asked me,"Does Shadow love you?" I then said,"I'm...not sure if he sees me in that way but I kinda feel the same way for him but there's someone else who I like as well so I never told Shadow how much I loved him as well, yet."

Link then said,"I see, so you're having trouble on who you want to choose." I then said,"I'm not gonna decide right away, I'll decide who I want to be with after this whole mess is over besides I don't really have time for some romantic moments with Shadow."I got up and I said to Link,"Excuse me for minute I need to go to the little girl's room."

LINK'S POV

After (Y/n) went to the toilet I sensed a presence near by so I got up and then I saw red eyes staring at me and that's when I realised who it was. A familiar voice said,"I was wondering why my ears were burning." I stood up and shouted,"Shadow!"

Shadow came out of the darkness and said,"It's been a while since our last encounter Link I see that you've taken a liking to MY (Y/n)." I glared at him and said,"Your (Y/n)? please she hasn't even said that she loves you yet." He then said,"Yes I've noticed that I can see why she hasn't said it yet it's because of you Link." I was confused at this and I said,"Because of me? What are you talking about?"

"I'm saying that (Y/n) LIKES you better than me." Shadow said. My eyes widen in shock at what he just said and I then said,"So if we both like the same girl then that means she's gonna have to pick one of us later on won't she?" Shadow nodded his head in agreement and said,"It would seem that way, none of us is going to force her to choose let's just wait until this mess is over and then she'll decide." I said,"Sounds good to me."

Shadow held his hand out and I took it and shook it as agreement. He then said,"Let's see who will win her heart." After he said that his body turned into black smoke and he vanished.

READER'S POV

I was about to head back to camp until I saw Shadow and Link I couldn't quite hear what they were talking about until I heard Shadow say,"Yes I've noticed that I can see why hasn't said it yet it's because of you Link."

"Crap! Shadow knows that I'm in love with Link too!" I thought to myself. When I peeked out of the spot I where I was hiding Shadow disappeared and then I felt someone grab my wrists and pinning them against the large rock and it was Shadow. He glared at me and said, "Did you really think I'm that stupid enough not to notice, I know you've developed some feelings for that hero and I've been wondering why you haven't admitted your feeling towards me yet and I finally know why." he said angrily 

"Shadow stop it you're scaring me." I said. He then leaned towards me and he whispered in my ear saying,"Why choose that hero over me?" He then moved his hands from my wrists to my hands and then he held onto them tightly. I then felt my face starting to burn up as his hot breath tickled my skin. Shadow then buried his face in my shoulder.

I said,"I'm sorry Shadow I didn't mean to hurt your feelings I love you as well but how can I be in love with both of you and Link? How can I pick one of you?" I asked as I embraced him and he did the same and we both sat there embracing each other for a while. Shadow let's go of me and he then stroked my cheek and he kissed me on the lips and then he turned into black smoke and vanished.
