8 days before the Jeju island trip

5 PM |  Yejin

Panting, I finally climbed the last stairs leading to my apartment.

This was probably the worst part of my day.

After a long, tiring day of work, having to climb these thousand stairs to my building was excruciating.

I couldn't wait to get to my place and crash on the floor. I just had a few hours of rest before my next shift at the convenience store.

I was missing my office job so much. I was tired of having to be on my feet all day long. I was tired of customers.

I was, just, tired.

So tired I almost did not see the post-it note stuck on my door.

I squinted my eyes to read it.

I smiled.

What is he doing here?

I felt a strange tingling feeling all over my body as I opened my door.

I dropped my bag, quickly brushed my hair, and changed my t-shirt.

I was smiling the whole time.

The next minute, I was already knocking at Halmeoni's. Her door was slightly opened.

"Is that you, 막대기 [breadstick]?"

Her sweet wrinkly eyes greeted me with an adorable smile.

Jungkook looked up to me and his face lighted up when he saw me.

Both of them were sitting on the floor, wearing aprons, working on what seemed like a dumpling food chain.

"I found your friend waiting in front of your door," she explained, pointing at the boy squatting down next to her. "So I told 버섯 머리 [mushroom head] to come to help me."

"Yaaah, Halmeoni!" Jungkook whined in a cute way. "I already told you to stop calling me like that!"
