Midnight | Jungkook
When I arrived on the scene, there were police cars everywhere.
It felt like an out-of-body experience.
I couldn't hear the loud sirens. I couldn't see the blinding flashlights. I couldn't feel the cold of the night.
I was focused on one thing, and one thing only.
Her.
I refused to let go until I could confirm... she was alright.
That was all I wanted.
I just wanted her to be alright.
I found the police officer who seemed in charge and walked up to him.
"I'm looking for Seong Yejin," I spoke in a voice that seemed so different from mine.
He looked up from the notepad he was scribbling on.
"Are you her emergency contact?" he squinted his severe eyes on me.
"No, I'm her b-"
"ID?" he spoke over me, opening his palm up.
I handed him my ID card and he made a sign for me to take down my mask.
He read my document and his eyes widened.
He looked up to me. Looked down at the card. Then looked up to me again. His eyes widened even more.
I was used to that.
But not now, please. Just, not now.
"Are you..." he adjusted his glasses on his nose, taking a closer look at my card. "Are you... from the Bangtan Seoyandan thing?"
I nodded.
"Rrrrap Monster? Sugar? The dancing boys?" he asked as if he didn't believe me.
I nodded again.
Whatever it takes to move on from this conversation.
"Wow," he blinked on my card. "My daughter's gonna be crazy when she'll hear about that..."
I honestly didn't have any patience at that point.
"Where's Yejin? Is she OK?" I pressed him with pleading eyes.
The officer finally remembered what we were here for and turned towards the inside of his car.
"She's fine. Completely fine. She doesn't have any injuries..."
Fresh air rushed through my lungs and I almost felt light-headed from it.
"Not even a scratch... Can't say the same about her bike," he added, pointing to the side of the road with his chin.
I looked in the direction he was showing and noticed the dark cloud of smoke coming from a pile of black metal.
I gasped in terror.
From the state of the bike, I couldn't imagine how bad the road accident had been.
"Where is she?! Is she really OK?" I turned back to the police officer, my eyes darting over the multitude of police cars parked in the middle of the road.
